What is something you are really good at that people might not know?

I love to sing! Growing up I was always performing around the city and even performing at Fiesta. When I was younger, I even auditioned to play the young version of Selena for the movie and made it to the final rounds. I love teaching music as well and helped kids with vocal training so that they can compete. I also love to bake! I make cupcakes from scratch and I like to try different flavors and create my own recipes.

What is something funny about you?

I am a huge fan of Disney! I can name every Disney movie ever made and even know some movies word for word. My family and I usually go to Disney world every other year and are planning to visit every Disney Park even the ones in Paris and Hong Kong!

This week you will be receiving your first Core Value ratings in Teach Boost. These ratings align to our 6 Core Values and are aligned to ethics, your professional attitude and overall commitment to IDEA's mission. These ratings will occur each quarter. Please review the feedback and reach out to your direct manager if you have questions or need clarification.

On track to the A-Rating!

As we work towards providing in classroom observations daily, we also know we cannot get into all spaces at the optimal times. Because of this, we will be using video cameras within classrooms so that we can go back and watch your teaching, provide feedback and allow you to watch yourself teach.

This will also allow us to create exemplar videos to use when coaching teachers.

We are still in need of a few teachers for the following dates of Saturday school: 11/16, 12/7 and 12/14. If you can teach any of these dates, please reach out to Mrs. Langbein.

Purposeful independent work is key to continue scholar learning outside of group instruction. Listed below are resources you can use to prepare purposeful independent work on an ongoing basis as part of their weekly backwards planning.

• Planning pages located in the teacher presentation book
• Blackline Masters for corresponding programs (RMSE K and RMSE 1—located on the black bookcase near the teacher boxes
• Independent Readers (box sets for RMSE K and RMSE 1—Kits will be given out next week for groups in the readers
• IW activities shared on One Drive from Mrs. Fernandez - Reach out to Mrs. Conroy for already made card stock prints.
• Teachers Pay Teachers for RMSE and DISTAR aligned independent work (https://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Store/The-Little-Classroom-Around-The-Corner)

Shout out to having Independent Work stations that are hands on, aligned to DI and engaging for scholars. They were having a blast rolling the dice and reading the words in the columns!

As we move into week 11 of school, we want to make sure our classrooms and school reflect a day one campus. In order to do this, we need to hold scholars accountable for taking care of our building. One way you can help with this is ensure all trash is picked up including crayons and pencils as soon as they are on the floor so that they are not being slid across the floor and making marks.

Beginning next week, scholars are to sit in the third time when waiting at dismissal or in the hallways so that they are not leaning/scratching the walls with their backpacks.

Let's give the Facilities team a break from painting!

All staff are required to attend RCN next Thursday from 3:25 - 6:00. This is in place of our PD. Please review the one-pager that has been placed in your box. Scholars will need to move back to homeroom at 3:20 for snack. All Lead Teachers are to be in the cafeteria by 3:25, ready to pass out Report Cards to families.

This is a mandatory event for 100% of our families. Remind families that they will have to park and go into the cafeteria to pick up their Report Card. In order for scholars to be picked up from the classrooms, they will have to show the Report Card and completion of the Parent Survey with the link given in the cafeteria.

Shout out to Kinder for teaching scholars our Bumblebee Song. I cannot wait to see all of our scholars singing with pride.

• Shout out to Ms. Calderon and Ms. Martin for pushing and working with math scholars. Our last test showed an over 55% increase with one of our priority scholars. Way to "Close the Achievement Gap"!
• Shout out to the following staff for being a Level 3 -High Performing Teacher within the Teacher Career Placement rubric: Heather Cortinas, Adria James, Sara Jimenez and Britany Luna. You all have made an impact on educating our scholars in San Antonio and we cannot wait to see you continue this and grow even more at IDEA Burke.
