Principal's Corner, Mr.Chad Steinmetz
Student Success Third Trimester
On Monday, March 11 we started our third and final trimester of the 2023-2024 school year. The third trimester (and school year) will conclude on Thursday, May 30 for all freshmen, sophomores and juniors. Graduation for seniors is set for Friday, May 24 at 6:00 p.m. at the Bloomer Athletic Complex (weather permitting). We will not have scheduled parent-teacher conferences during third trimester. However, we encourage you to follow your child’s progress and contact his/her teachers with any questions or concerns. As the weather gets nicer and spring sports kick into action, we want to be pro-active in helping our students remain committed to keeping up with their work and having a strong finish to the school year.
Schedule for Wednesday, April 10
We have a full day planned for Wednesday, April 10. All freshmen and sophomores will be completing their required State Assessments beginning at 8:00 a.m. All freshmen and sophomores will be excused for the remainder of the day at the conclusion of their testing. We estimate that will be roughly 12:15 p.m. (after lunch) for freshmen and 1:35 p.m. for sophomores. Any freshmen or sophomores who need to stay at school and ride the bus home can work in the LMC in the afternoon. All juniors will be going on one of six college or technical college tours. Finally, all seniors will have a virtual learning day. They will have required online learning activities through Google Classroom, but they will not have in-person classes that day. Any seniors who do not have internet access at home are also welcome to come and work in the LMC that day. In the past we have impacted as many as five school days in completing our State Testing. For the past few years, we have used this format to minimize the distractions and to maximize instructional time for staff and students.
Dress Code
Now that spring has officially arrived and warmer temperatures will soon follow, I would like to take the opportunity to remind students and parents/guardians of the District’s dress code policy.
The Bloomer School District has a commitment to provide and foster an appropriate, safe and effective learning environment for each of its students. Students have the responsibility to dress appropriately for school, as well as for District sponsored activities, events and programs. Footwear shall be worn for all school activities except as otherwise approved.
Students shall wear safety or special equipment whenever it is required. No student shall be permitted to wear any clothing, other apparel or headgear, jewelry or other accessories, nor wear insignias, symbols or emblems which are identified with a gang or gang-related activities colors. Clothing that contains pictures and/or writing referring to alcoholic beverages, tobacco products, sexual acts, profanity, illegal drugs, criminal or illegal activity are also prohibited. Students are not permitted to wear clothes which are distracting, cause classroom disruptions, or are deemed by administration to be inappropriate for the school setting. Clothing which is excessively baggy, short, or revealing is inappropriate for the school setting. Similarly, good judgment should be used by students with regard to proper use of makeup and grooming of the hair.
In addition, so as to foster an effective learning environment and in the interests of discipline, maintenance of classroom standards and safety, the principal shall notify students annually regarding standards set for appropriate dress considering the realities of health, safety, and avoidance of disruption of normal school operations.
Activities Director, Mr. Jason Steinmetz
