Morris Elementary School
Week of March 25th
Hello Parents and Guardians,
We had a busy week at Morris Elementary School. On Thursday, the middle and high school students brought the world to Morris. They shared captivating insights and information about the countries they researched for the International Fair at LMMHS. It was heartening to see the enthusiasm and knowledge these students brought to the school. The presentations not only broadened our students' perspectives but also fostered a sense of global awareness and appreciation. The staff and I were impressed as the Morris students asked inquisitive questions regarding the countries that were presented.
Additionally, our high school students had the pleasure of engaging with our younger learners in a delightful Spanish reading session. They shared the timeless tale of "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" with our Pre-K through first-grade students. This experience not only nurtured a love for language and literature but also provided our younger students with a glimpse of what awaits them in middle and high school.
Fifth grade students had the distinct honor of hosting a very special guest Friday afternoon, State Representative Smitty Pignatelli. Representative Pignatelli's visit was an enlightening experience for our students as they delved deeper into the workings of our democracy. Through an engaging discussion our fifth graders gained a comprehensive understanding of the branches of government and the pivotal role each one plays in shaping our society.
Furthermore, Representative Pignatelli provided firsthand accounts of his duties and responsibilities as a state representative, offering our students a unique glimpse into the life of a public servant. His passion for civic engagement and dedication to serving our community served as an inspiring example for our young learners.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Representative Pignatelli for taking the time to visit Morris and impart his wisdom upon our students. Such experiences not only enrich their academic knowledge but also instill in them a sense of civic responsibility and empowerment.
Lastly, a gentle reminder that there will be no school on Friday, March 29th, in observance of Good Friday. We hope this extended weekend provides you and your family with an opportunity for rest, relaxation, and quality time together.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in our school community. Together, we're creating enriching experiences and nurturing a love for learning that will last a lifetime.
