Middle School Friday - Moviemaking with Mr. O'Brien
We're so lucky to have a wealth of talent surrounding our school! For their Middle School Friday elective class, "Moviemaking", taught by Barret O'Brien, 7th and 8th grade students wrote, rehearsed, and produced an original science fiction film with support from local cinematographer Gary Lundgren. Re-enrollment forms - PAST DUE
Re-enrollment forms are now past due and calls will be made to check on missing forms so that we might begin enrollment for families on our waitlists. If you have outstanding forms, please return them to the office as soon as possible. Thank you!
May Day is coming! – Friday, May 3rd, 11:00am
Join us at Clay Street Park for this beautiful spring festival! Feel free to bring a blanket or folding chair for seating on the grass. Family, friends, and Waldorf preschool and kindergartens are welcome to join.
We ask that Siskiyou School students:
- Wear white clothing (tan pants are great) – if you do not have white clothes, we do have some items in our lost and found closet, just contact Phyllis (phyllis.cooley@siskiyouschool.org) or stop by the office if you’d like to borrow something.
- Bring a bouquet of flowers from your garden to share with their class for their May Day crowns.
Please note:
- Wear sunscreen or a hat and bring a water bottle.
- Dismissal will be at regular Friday times (12:20 for 1st, 12:30 for 2 through 4, 12:45 for 5 through 8).
- For the safety of our children, dismissal will be at the front of school as per a normal Friday. If you intend on picnicking in the park, please pick up your child from the front of the school and walk them back. Kindergarten pick up will be AT the Kindergarten house so families may join in the Kindergarten picnic.
If you're interested in volunteering to help construct flower crowns with the children on our festival day, please click the link below to sign up. No experience needed! It's a very fun event to volunteer at! Thank you!
Class 2 (Bear Class) - Mrs. Bartow
It was wonderful to celebrate with you Friday at our class night! The warmth and friendliness you extend to each other and to the children always makes for a wonderful gathering for our class...the Bear Class! I'll never forget the moment of that announcement, and the cheers, smiles and applause that erupted in Pine Hall. Very sweet and special!
In main lesson, we are continuing to practice our subtraction with regrouping and hearing fables from around the world. In the next weeks, we will have many fun events, including our field trips, festivals and end-of-year celebrations. Please keep an eye on the Tuesday Notice for information to come. As always, I want to thank you for your constant support and kindness. It means so much.
~Mrs. Bartow
Chess Club Update
Greetings everyone. Second session of Chess Club is up and running. We have a few new faces in the group, and lots of returning, familiar faces. The chess tournament has started, with five students in the mix. It's fun to see the increased level of concentration that happens in those games. I've also been very impressed with their sportsmanship, and letting any losses easily roll off their backs. The rest of the group is continuing on as usual, playing their friends, and new acquaintances, after the opening lesson.
Reminder that we have class this Friday (4/26) and then a break next week for May Day (5/3). The last two classes will be on 5/10 and 5/17.
If you haven't paid for second session yet please get a hold of me : dustin.monda@siskiyouschool.org
Thank you, Mr. Monda

Olive Tree Preschool
Olive Tree is opening its doors once more to new students and their families for the 2024-2025 school year to children aged 3-5 years old. Please contact Ruth at mamaempowermentalliance@gmail.com, or text 541-414-9551 to set up a visit at the preschool.
Bike Rodeo!
Bring your bikes and helmets down to the school April 29th from 6-7:30 pm for our annual Bike Rodeo hosted by the Ashland Cub Scout Pack 3112!
A Bike Rodeo is a fun way for kids of all ages and riding levels to practice handling their bikes and learn more about bike safety. We will have a closed loop riding course around the school, road hazard course, slalom run, and quick stop station for kids to practice their skills. Local organizations will be on site to do helmet fit checks, bike checks, provide bike safety information, and share fun opportunities for kids to get outside and ride.
This is a free event for the community so bring your friends and come ride with us! Drop by for a short time or stay and ride into the sunset.
