A NOTE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Hello Thompson Families,
With the beautiful March weather upon us, it's important to remember our third through fifth graders as they gear up for the Illinois Assessment of Readiness (IAR) tests the weeks of March 11th, March 18th, and April 1st. These tests help gauge our students' progress in school.
To ensure they do their best, please make sure your child gets a good night's sleep and eats a healthy breakfast each morning. Also, remind them to bring their Chromebooks to school with the battery fully charged. Together, let's support our children in being ready to learn and grow. Thank you for your continued partnership.
Warm regards,
Sandy Allen, Principal
5ESSENTIALS PARENT SURVEY
This is a reminder to participate in the parent survey supplement, part of the Illinois 5Essentials Survey administration. We guarantee that survey responses will never be connected to the identity of you or your child. School reports will only present aggregated information of how parents and students responded as a whole.
A parent survey report will be generated if at least 20 percent of parents/guardians respond to the survey. To date, 12% of Thompson parents have completed the survey. While the parent data will not be made public, the parent report will be made available to Dr. Keim-Bounds and me, and will enable us to make considerations based on your responses.
Please visit https://survey.5-essentials.org/Illinois/ to take the parent survey.
If you have any questions about the survey, please contact UChicago Impact Survey Support at 1-866-440-1874 or impact-surveys@uchicago.edu.
ARBOR FOOD SERVICE SURVEY (K-3RD GRADE STUDENTS ONLY)
Arbor Food Service Management Company would like to gather your child/ren’s feedback on lunch meals provided at school. Please click on the link to complete the survey by March 15th: School Food Service Survey for Parents of Young Children. Thank you.
It is hard to believe the beginning stages of the 2024-2025 school year class building process are on the horizon. Each year during the class building process, Thompson staff and administration collectively group students based on individual learning styles and personalities, as well as balancing class size. In addition, we strive for an academically heterogeneous grouping of students reflecting a full range of learner abilities. However, we realize parents may want to share additional information about their child that adds value to this process.
If you would like to share something about your child’s learning style or personality that you feel might be helpful in the placement process, please submit this Parent/Guardian Input Form. All forms must be submitted no later than Friday, March 22, 2024.
We trust you will rely on our professional judgment as we strive to create the best learning environment possible for every child at Thompson School. Unless extenuating circumstances exist, requests for a specific teacher or classroom student make-up will not be accepted. We take great care when factoring in the above mentioned variables, and appreciate your understanding and support as we move through this complex planning process.
As always, please reach out to me directly should you have any questions. (sandra.allen@district41.org)
