Today, Dr. Eric Stewart, an FMS parent and NASA employee, presented at our schoolwide morning meeting and shared fascinating information about the eclipse. Please Dr. Stewart’s slides below - feel free to view them on your own or with your child!

All About the Eclipse, 4/8/24

Today, students are bringing home four pairs of eclipse glasses. We will be recycling them at school, so please feel free to send them back with your child next week! There is a collection site at Jules on the Green, and CSWD has a recycling plan for the glasses.

Weather at Your School!

You may have seen the Friday feature on My NBC5 by meteorologist Marissa Vigevani, Weather at Your School. Marissa is coming to FMS on Friday, May 3rd! The broadcast begins at 4:30 am and the weather crew will be here until 8:00. We will have student broadcasters, working in groups of 2-5 students every 15 minutes who will help with the weather report on TV!

Please fill out this survey below by Friday, April 12th if your child is interested in participating. We are looking to fill all the time slots, which are every 15 minutes and begin at 6:00 am. We will do a drawing for slots with the most interest, and confirm the details with parents by April 19th.

Placement Survey

Earlier this week, you received a brief placement survey. Please take the time to fill this out for each child that is currently a K-5 student. We will be following up with families to ensure we hear from everyone. Family feedback is important to our placement process as we begin to think about next year’s class groupings.

Last Day of School and Next Year’s Calendar

The last student day of the 23-24 school year will be Friday, June 14th. It will be a half-day.

FMS Read-A-Thon

FMS has been busy reading and logging minutes this week! As of Thursday morning, we have already logged about 49,000 minutes in school! We are displaying the minutes we read on the HUGE bookworm that students are helping to decorate. Go FMS!

Please continue to read and log your minutes over the long weekend so we can collect and tally the "at home" minutes next week!
