Green Meadow Book Fair
It’s time for the Green Meadow Book Fair! Students will visit the book fair during their library class time, and have the opportunity to buy books and create a wish list of books that they like. Books range in price from $5.00 to $30.00. If you would like to participate, please send your child with either cash or a personal check (made out to Green Meadow PTO) on the day that they visit the library (please see the library class schedule below to find your child’s library date and time). Here is a link to the book fair vendor’s website if you’d like to browse the selection that will be at the fair: https://bestbookfairs.com/
In addition to students visiting the book fair during school hours, the book fair will be open to families after dismissal on Thursday, May 2nd until 4:45 p.m. Please check in with the office for a visitor pass before visiting the book fair in the library. You will also have an opportunity to purchase a book for your student’s teacher from their wish lists. All book fair profits will be used to update and maintain the school library, and classroom libraries.

Finally, if you are able to, please consider making a donation of any amount to contribute to a student fund for book purchase.
Thank you so much for your partnership, please let me know if you have any questions. I’m looking forward to seeing you soon!

Welcome to the Counselor's Corner!
Have you ever asked your child “How was school today?”, hoping for a detailed account of their time away from you, only to hear a one word response? There may be a different way to communicate that allows for a more productive, supportive and connective interaction. Here are some ideas for how to talk to your child about their school day as well as some helpful questions to ask your child about school. The timing, phrasing and content of your inquiries can make a BIG difference! Additional SEL resources can be found on the Green Meadow Social Emotional Learning Resources website.
Questions or feedback? Please contact Julie Danforth at jdanforth@maynard.k12.ma.us
Notes from the Green Meadow Nurse’s Office
Head lice are a common occurrence among school-age children. Head lice are spread through direct contact with or sharing personal items with someone who already has them. Please remind your children how important it is not to share hats, combs, brushes, headbands, hair elastics, helmets etc….
With the knowledge that children have sleepovers, parties, and play dates, we hope sharing this information with everyone in our school community will help decrease the spread of head lice. We recommend that you periodically check your child’s hair for any signs of head lice. It is best to do a head check in natural sunlight. Head lice are small, brown insects, no larger than the size of a sesame seed, that live and feed on the human scalp. Nits are tiny, whitish ovals that are firmly glued to the hair shaft usually close to the scalp. Often they are located at the nape of the neck, behind the ears and at the crown of the head, but they can be found anywhere on the head.
Please inform your school nurse if your child does have a confirmed case of lice so that additional measures can be taken to help ensure effective treatment.
