MGHS and MPHS Students Recognized by the Marysville City Council
Gianna Frank, a senior at Marysville Pilchuck High School, and Claire Michal, a senior at Marysville Getchell High School were recently honored by the Mayor and City Council for their selection to serve as delegates in the United States Senate Youth Program. Claire served last year and Gianna was selected to serve this year. This follows another recent recognition of the students by the Snohomish County Council.
At the City Council meeting, Mayor Nehring proclaimed February 14, 2024, as Claire Michal and Gianna Frank Day. Read more in the Proclamation linked HERE.
Each year, the William Randolph Hearst Foundation sponsors two high school juniors or seniors from across the nation to attend the United States Senate Youth Program - an all-expense-paid, week-long tour of Washington, DC and to receive a $10,000 scholarship. This year, two students from Marysville were finalists; Sabrina Neal, a senior at MGHS, and Gianna Frank of MPHS. Gianna was chosen as a finalist. When selected, finalists go through a multi-step interview process to be selected as one of the state delegates. Read more about the program HERE.
It is unprecedented for students from the same school district to be selected two years in a row. The district and schools are so proud of these students' accomplishments. We look forward to seeing where their goals and dreams will take them after graduation!
*Ms. Michal was absent from the meeting due to illness.
