Our Goal - Growth (to increase or develop)
Kia ora koutou (Hello everyone)
As we can feel the weather starting to change with the mornings becoming more chilly as Autumn starts to work its way in, we're thankful for having many sunshiny days we were able to enjoy this summer. Term 1 was filled with loads of excitement, fun and learning experiences and we would like to share them with you.
At the beginning of the term our kura (school) hosted a pōwhiri to welcome all of our new staff, students and whānau. A pōwhiri is a ceremony within Te Ao Māori where two groups come together to form one group. It involves singing (waiata), a speech from both sides (kōrero), a karanga and a hongi (touching of noses). It was a great way to start the year and build relationships.

Our Student Leaders for 2024
KA PAI !!
Our Garden
Kevin Sutherland: "I am very excited to have our gardening project underway. My hope is that our tamariki have been coming home and sharing all about what we have been doing as part of our enviroclub project. We have begun planting and we are eagerly anticipating the best part... being able to eat it! I am looking forward to seeing some parents get involved, so feel free to come by anytime and have a chat. I am always open to learning new things, or even better come and join us!"
Kaipatiki Trust
Kaipatiki Trust brought some soft play building materials to the hall and here are some feedback from room 2 and room 4:
Kerbien and Jamie "We worked together to build a tank with speedy wheels, a comfy seat, a scope, and an engine."
Dan Z and Gethsara built a car which was big and they would love to do it again. Next time they will build a house.
Ivo and Violeta built a motorbike which was big and made of blocks and it was green. They had fun working together and making something in buddies.
Korbyn and Rafael made an epic castle. It was heaps of fun!
Lunar New Year
The Lunar new year parade was an opportunity to celebrate the start of the Lunar new year. We had a parade where all Whanau groups showed off their learning and demonstrated what they had learned about the event. It was so much fun and the tamariki enjoyed the opportunity to mark such a significant event.
Skateboarding
Young Guns Skate School gave our year 4 - 6 students skateboarding lessons. It's part of their learning about healthy bodies and minds, developing resilience and trying new things.
New Bike Track and Playground
Here's how our year 6's feel: " The new playground is absolutely magnificent! We love to play on the new swings, but the problem is, it is always packed with people. The new playground really is a good enhancement for the school and we love it."
Our tamariki's struggle to take turns on the new swings inspired the teachers to discuss the topic of sharing during PB4L. Where they learned how to take turns and how pushing in line can impact those around you who are playing. It shows that even through playing we can learn and grow.
At the beginning of March we had our first wheels day on the new bike track and it was a massive success.
A big thank you to our Principal Michelle Nell and the Board for making this possible and enhancing our tamariki's experience at Marlborough Primary truly unforgettable.
Minifair
On 14 March '24 our Year 5 and 6 students hosted a successful Mini Fair.
They exceeded all our expectations showing their creativity and innovation with a big variety of foods, drinks, crafts and games.
Together with everybody's support they raised over $2600 which will go towards the buses for the year 5-6 camp.
Touch Rugby
The coaches message to the team:
"Great final game team.
The kids developed so much in such a short time.
Everyone contributed something and individually improved their own skill sets of catching and passing.
It was great to see this.
Thanks for listening and taking on board what I tried to coach."
Breakfast Club
We have a Breakfast Club running in the hall every morning. We welcome any students that might just need a top up before school starts. Please join Mrs. Light in the hall from 8:30 till 8:50.
Upcoming Events:
Come and support your tamariki at the following events:
