Positive Behavioral Interventions & Supports
What is PBIS?
Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS), is a systematic approach to managing and improving behavior in school. The focus of PBIS is on creating a positive and supportive environment that helps all children learn and succeed. Kindergartners through sixth graders earn Panther Paws for demonstrating the South Ridge 3 R's: Responsible, Respectful, and Ready to Learn.
Students use the Panther Paws to purchase items, such as fidgets, pens, puzzles, diamond art, etc. from the Panther Cart weekly. South Ridge students have earned over 6,500 tickets so far this year! We are so proud of them!
The preschool classes each work towards a classroom reward rather than individual rewards. They do this by earning tokens for positive behaviors teachers establish in the classroom. Rewards are reached when a specific amount of tokens are earned by the class. Rewards are class generated, sometimes they earn a class party and other times it is extra recess time, movie day, etc.
Parents, guardians, and community members who would like to learn more about PBIS at South Ridge School and be a part of the Elementary PBIS Tier 1 Committee can contact Mr. Bernard at abernard@isd2142.k12.mn.us
