A Message from Mrs. Autrey
Luck has Nothing to Do with Success
“I'm a greater believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.” ― Thomas Jefferson
Students and teachers can constructively work together to create a positive learning environment. A positive mindset fosters collaboration in the classroom by encouraging everyone to view challenges and mistakes as opportunities for growth.
Helping students develop a growth mindset is one of the best things you can do to enable their success. With a growth mindset, students recognize that their abilities and intelligence can be developed with effort and dedication. Consequently, they become motivated to challenge themselves and push through failure to reach their desired goals.
It is necessary to teach kids that greater achievements in life are acquired only with HARD WORK.
Students need to understand the power of a strong work ethic. Every child needs to learn how to do their best and succeed in life with a never give up attitude.
As we approach the last nine-weeks of the school year, let's work together to encourage students to put forth their best effort and finish strong. It takes a village to create a successful school community. Let's make Deyton Elementary the most successful school in North Carolina!
~Kristie B. Autrey
Thank you
Every student at Deyton Elementary will receive a book of their choice on Read Across America Day thanks to a generous donation.
March Madness Attendance Tournament
Each homeroom will be paired with another homeroom to compete for the highest attendance rate for the week. The homeroom with the highest attendance percentage for the week will advance to the next bracket; however, there will be a “Wild Card” slot and your homeroom could make it back into the tournament
There will be two homerooms competing in the final week of the tournament
The tournament ends on March 28th. The homeroom with the highest attendance percentage for the month will get to celebrate with an I-Scream Party and extra-time outside!
📝 Absence Reporting Protocol:
If a student must miss school, here are the following guidelines:
- A written excuse, signed by a parent or guardian, must be presented to the student's teacher on the day they return after an absence.
- For absences due to extended illnesses or students who have missed more than ten days of school, a statement from a healthcare practitioner may be required.
