Clawson Public Schools Quarterly Newsletter

It sure has been a busy quarter here at Clawson Public Schools but that only means one thing, we have learned so much and have lots to celebrate and highlight!
We have been in full swing learning and growing as one Central Campus. We're finishing construction at the beautiful new Early Childhood Center (formally Kenwood). Our preschool aged kids are really going to be in for a treat walking through those doors everyday. As that project nears completion in May, the next phase of construction moves to Clawson High School where we will embark on a complete renovation of that building beginning in April. Every space will be fully renovated and upgraded, turning Clawson High School into a brand new facility that we all can be proud of!
Happy Spring everyone!!
Mr. Shell - Proud CPS Superintendent
March is Reading Month
While March is recognized as Reading Month nationally, we take great pride in celebrating it here at Clawson Public Schools. Over at Baker they had mystery readers come and share a story with multiple classes throughout the month. Clawson Elementary School dives into the month with a schoolwide theme. They deck out the entire school, host literacy events and promote reading, with challenges both at home and classwide. Sixth graders at the Middle School even participated and were challenged to read in different classes everyday.
Special Olympics Polar Plunge
For the past few years, Clawson Middle and High School students and staff have been diving into the chilly challenge of the Polar Plunge! Participants took the plunge into an ice-cold bath to raise funds for Special Olympics Michigan. This year, over 95 staff and students braved the cold and their efforts resulted in an incredible $12,000 raised for this great cause! Well done Trojans!!!
CMS Plan For Success Class - Kindness Activity
Students in Ms. Thompson's Plan for Success Class were tasked with spreading kindness in some way at our school. Gabe, an 8th grader at CMS, had an idea to do a craft with a kindergarten class to celebrate kindness. He reached out to Mrs. Meisel and they coordinated a visit. This is a prime example of the benefits of being all on one Central Campus. Ms. Thompson's class enjoyed it so much they'll be visiting again this year!
CHS Unified Basketball Plays @ LCA!!
Special Olympics Unified Athletics is all about INCLUSION!! Unified Basketball is no different. At Clawson Public Schools, we embrace INCLUSION and love that ALL of our students have an opportunity to be a part of our district culture. This season, our Clawson High School Unified Basketball Team has been all smiles and high fives! One of the most exciting moments of our team's season was when they had the incredible opportunity to play at Little Ceasars Arena against the Royal Oak Ravens. The energy and excitement showcased the INCLUSION and teamwork that makes the Unified Basketball Program so great. So proud of our Unified Trojans!!
