Advisor Questions:
What is the typical student timeframe?
- 4 years undergrad, 1 year master’s
- Program advisor
- Graduate advisor
- There is no limit, but only 12 credit hours can count towards an undergraduate degree and a master’s degree at the same time (overlap coursework)
- No. Students can suggest a potential pathway to an advisor or faculty or other staff member, but the pathway proposal process must be accomplished by a UGA employee.
- Depends on the program- direct this question to the program advisor. However, these students will not qualify for the funding incentive.
OSFA Questions:
How is the OSFA checklist triggered?
- A student on federal aid (Pell Grant or federal student loans) enrolls in a graduate-level course.
Which advisor fills out the OSFA checklist?
- Double Dawgs advisor if the college or school has one. If not, the student's primary advisor will fill it out. If a student has a double major, their two primary advisors will work together to complete one form
Graduate School Questions
Are Double Dawgs students guaranteed acceptance to their intended graduate program?
- No, students must apply to graduate school usually during their last semester of undergrad and meet all program requirements to be accepted.
- There is no rule prohibiting Double Dawgs students from graduate assistantships, but they may not have first priority. It depends on the program. Direct this question to the graduate advisor. For example, in Grady College, Ph.D. students are first priority for assistantships, then traditional master’s students, then Double Dawgs.
- Is an advanced degree required to enter the profession you’re interested in or to advance within the field?
- Do you have the financial resources or know of options to cover the cost of graduate school?
- Are you burned out academically, and do you need to take time off?

Funding Incentive Questions
What is the Double Dawgs funding incentive?
- $3000 total for every student who completes their undergrad studies in 4 years and their graduate study in 1 year. $1200 goes to the undergraduate department and $1800 goes to the graduate department
- Students will not qualify for the funding incentive if they are not admitted to the pathway on Athena. It is important to keep track of students’ progress and status on Athena throughout their time in undergraduate and during their master’s year to make sure they will qualify for funding.
- Unless they are graduating with both degrees in 4 years or less, no.
- Yes, as long as they do not take more than four years total to complete their undergraduate degree
- Yes, as long as they do not take more than one year total to complete their master’s degree
