Campus notes
Lower Campus
We kicked off Mystery Reader last week with 2nd Grade / Spanish track, where students were treated to a read of Change Sings by Amanda Gorman. Thanks to Katrina Hefner for surprising the children. It was a great read!
Students can wear red, green, yellow and black on Fridays
On Fridays throughout February, we’re asking the GLOBE community to wear red, green, yellow, black, or a Black-history themed t-shirt. Please remember that students must be in uniform during the remainder of the week. If required, you can refresh your memory of our uniform policy here.
Lunar New Year celebrations
Thank you to the Mandarin track families who joined us for the recent Lunar New Year performance. Video and photography footage is available here: video | picture gallery.
Carpool safety at Lower Campus
During carpool, please keep your child safely restrained inside the vehicle until they are ready to exit. There have been a few instances where children have been seen hanging out of car windows and behaving in such a way that can be a distraction to other drivers. We would like to keep everybody’s attention on the task-at-hand and to be mindful of merging traffic and pedestrians (walkers) in the area around campus. Thank you.
Upper Campus
Black History Month Spirit Week
We are having a Black History Month Spirit Week from Tuesday, February 20 to the following Monday, February 26. Download the flyer for details.
GLOBE students perform with the State Elementary Chorus
Under the leadership of Ms. Quarterman, six students were chosen to represent GLOBE and perform with the State Elementary Chorus at the Clayton County Performing Arts Center in Jonesboro on Saturday, February 10. Pictured left to right, back row: Michael Chang, Elizabeth Jeffers, Maliha Dao and Austin Waithe (5th grade). Front row: Beatriz Teixeira-Staples and Elise Jacobs (4th grade). Ninety-two schools were represented at the event.
Finding Ollie
The Finding Ollie series is produced by students in Mr Brantley's 8th grade Leadership and Communication class. Click here to view episode 9.
Black History Month door decorations
Hallway decorations look fantastic. Each door represents an outstanding piece of art, song, literature, visual or performing artist or writer from a specific time period. Once complete, they will represent “A Timeline through the Arts”, from the 1920’s to today.
When a student is not feeling well
Students who are not feeling well must first report to the campus clinic and speak with the nurse. If necessary, parents will be contacted by school staff to arrange for their child to be collected. On arrival, parents/guardians picking up their child must report to the front office to sign out their student.
Use of cell phones
A reminder that students should not be using their cell phone during the school day and we ask parents/guardians to refrain from texting their children during school hours. If you have an urgent message, please relay it via the front office.
Late arrival
If a student is arriving to school late, they must be checked in at the front office before going to class. Not doing this will result in the student being marked absent.
Lunar New Year celebrations
Thank you to the Mandarin track families who joined us for the recent Lunar New Year performance. Video and photography footage is available here: video | picture gallery.

You can join our efforts even if you can’t join our weekly meeting on Thursdays at 8pm (meeting info above). Please click here to view our different needs and click here to sign up to help make our biggest fundraiser come to life! We can't do it without the help of our generous parents and friends. “Volunteer of the Month” Carpool Winners!
Congratulations to our volunteers of the month, Heidi Holder and Ann Dunaway Teh. We hope you enjoy using the “Volunteer of the Month” carpool flag to skip the line during the month of February. Be sure to log your volunteer hours for a chance to win next month!
Lost and Found: Please label your items!
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
