Sustainability Highlights for Earth month
Are you interested in some ways that you can reduce your waste on campus?
Would you like to host an event with reusable dishes and cups?
Check out our Re Use kits for small gatherings and avoid the use of disposables!
We have the Re Use kits that can accommodate a group of 5-50 people. The link to reserve your kit may be found on the sustainability website. We will work with you to secure the reuse kits for your event and return them to be washed with Dining. The Re Use kits need to be reserved at least one week in advance of your event.
Would you like to collect your foodscraps and divert them from the landfill?
Join the Community Scale Composting Program at the Knox Farm and work with us to reduce our waste on campus and treat it as a resource!
Students, staff, and faculty are welcome to join our program. We ask that you apply with the link above and complete a 15 minute training with us before you begin the program.
We will offer compost trainings as needed and will host a more comprehensive workshop in Spring term.
Would you like to compost with confidence?
Most ECO products (coffee cups, clear Eco cups, napkins, take out soup cups) from Dining Services at Knox are BPI certified compostable and should be placed in the industrial compostable green bins. As materials can be confusing, it always a good idea to read the fine print on the items to determine the appropriate bins to place them in.
Would you like to recycle responsibly?
Remember:
We CAN recycle products #1-#5 and #7 in our conventional recycling.
We CANNOT Recycle #6, styrofoam, solo cups, and compostables (compostable eco cups cannot be recycled in conventional recycling).
Would you like to take less to the Landfill?
Reduce your reliance on single use items and materials that will end up in the landfill.
Remember:
Styrofoam, solo cups and #6 plastics should go to the Landfill.
Reduce your consumption of unnecessary packaging, buy in bulk, take reusable containers and bags with you when you shop and eat out!
