Solar Eclipse **Safety Notice**
Have you prepared for the solar eclipse on April 8th? Michigan's eclipse coverage will range from 75% in the northwest Upper Peninsula to a small area in the southeast Lower Peninsula experiencing totality (100%). Adults and children alike will want to "look up" to see this exciting natural phenomenon! Looking directly into a solar eclipse for any amount of time can be damaging to the human eye, so top priority is to prepare for eye safety!
The ecliplse will reach max coverage at approximately 3:10pm. R-PEL 1st Grade students will be participating in an Eclipse viewing party tomorrow. This event supports their Sun, Moon and Stars Unit. Each first grader has NASA approved glasses and has been anxiously been studying the eclipse. All other students will have the opportunity to watch the eclipse via live stream in their classrooms.
We will plan to have multiple announcements made to students and staff regarding solar eclipse safety.

Hand to Hand
Thanks to a partnership with group of local volunteers, our school will be participating in the Hand2Hand program. The program provides a student with food for the weekends and is intended for families who may be experiencing a financial burden. This program will be available to all of our kids and parents will give permission for their child to participate. We are grateful to the generosity of the volunteers in our community.
