March 2024
Principal's Point
Hello Families,
Splashing in the mud and the puddles one week and digging tunnels in the snow drifts the next. Welcome to spring!
Thank you for promptly returning your ballots for our school calendar vote process. We received unanimous support to continue our 4-day school week at Milo School! The results have been submitted to Palliser School Division to be shared with the Superintendent and the Board of Trustees and I am awaiting any further instructions. We, as a staff, see significant value in the 4-day school week for our students, their families, and our staff, and I am grateful that you see the value in it as well.
On Wednesday, March 27th, we will be hosting Wheat Country Special Needs Society as they present their activities for International Day of Happiness. The staff and clients have planned seven activity stations focused on healthy and happy living that the students will get a chance to experience.
We will be celebrating Education Week with a week of activities again this year, from April 15th-18th and we are looking forward to inviting you all to a celebration of learning and a potluck lunch on Thursday, April 18th. More details will come home with students soon, we hope many of you join us!
If you haven't had a chance yet, there is still time to provide your feedback on the draft social studies curriculum. Go to https://www.alberta.ca/curriculum-have-your-say to see the curriculum documents and access the feedback form. The form will close April 2nd at 11:59pm.
Palliser School Division is also looking for your feedback. We continue our process of transitioning report cards and we know that there are still some issues that need to be worked through to ensure that our report cards communicate clearly and effectively. The link to the feedback form is available on Edsby if you would like to provide feedback on our report cards.
We have a lot of events planned between now and the end of the year so be sure to stay informed by checking student agendas and Edsby for announcements and permission forms.
Not that you need the reminder, but there is no school the week of April 1st.
Enjoy your Easter and see you all back here on April 8th.

101 Days of School
Ms. Kirk's 1/2/3 class celebrated the 101st day of school on Thursday, March 21st. The students dressed up to look like they were 100 years old and brought in bags and jars that contained 100 items. The grade 3 students had to have 1000 items. The 100 theme was repeated in LA where they wrote about what they will be like when they are 100 years and math where they worked on 100's charts and different ways to count to 100 and 1000.

Who found a golden ticket?
The 4/5/6 class is reading Charlie and the Chocolate Factory as a novel study and thanks to Ms. Smith each student was able to choose a chocolate bar to see if it contained one of the 5 golden tickets. It was pretty exciting watching the students make their choice.
