Official Redistricting Announcement Coming FEB. 21

February 16, 2024
From the Desk of Superintendent, Dr. Kevin S. Miller
Dear Licking Heights Families,
We are coming down the home stretch for our redistricting project and will soon have a finalized plan to share. This coming Tuesday, February 20, our Board of Education will vote at their regular February meeting to adopt the redistricting plan created for our elementary schools. These new boundaries will take effect at the start of the 2024-2025 school year in August.
As a reminder, these new boundaries only impact which elementary school a student attends next school year. All of our families will still be Licking Heights families and will be a part of our school district next year. Additionally, all students who will attend a different school next year as a result of redistricting will stay at their current school for the remainder of the 2023-2024 school year.
You can expect the following communications from our District Office team next week about redistricting:
Wed., Feb. 21: An email announcement of the new elementary school boundaries will be sent to all district families.
We will also launch an official Redistricting Hub directly on our District Website with information about 2024-25 boundaries and our Boundary Locator tool.
The week of Mon., Feb. 26 to Fri., March 1: Our quarterly hard copy newsletter featuring our new elementary boundary map for 2024-25, along with additional redistricting information, will be in mailboxes across our district.
In the meantime, click the yellow button below to view our official Redistricting Hub from Cooperative Strategies. All information presented in the redistricting process so far is available on this website.
Please know that your feedback and insights were vital throughout this project and formed the foundation of our plans for 2024-2025. Our team is hard at work to make all students feel welcome and supported in the elementary schools next year and during the transitional period.
Thank you to everyone who participated in our redistricting community meeting Feb. 1, responded to our redistricting surveys in December and February, and reached out to our District Office team to share their thoughts. Your partnership and participation is deeply appreciated by our team.
Sincerely,
Dr. Kevin S. Miller, Superintendent

5th Through 12th Grade Students: In Need of Feminine Hygiene Products During the Day?
Per the Ohio Revised Code, every public school district in Ohio is required to provide free feminine products to students who may need them during the school day. We have always provided products to students at Licking Heights, but previously these products were stored and given out through building health aides.
The district has received grant funds to purchase dispensers for both pads and tampons, and dispensers will be placed in each clinic and a few universal spaces (main office hallways, counseling offices hallways, cafeteria restrooms, etc.) around Central Intermediate, the middle school, and the high school building to ensure that young ladies have access to products when needed.
Please be advised that there is a limited supply of products, and many students are in need of these essential resources. Kindly take only what you need when you need it instead of using this as a substitute for bringing products yourself.
Transportation Update: Celebrating Our Team
Our employee of the month is transportation assistant Linda Valentine. We thank Linda for her constant support of our students and staff here at Transportation. Megan Herren has rejoined us as a bus driver, and Mike Perkins recently obtained his CDL. He can now start driving on student routes. Congratulations and welcome!

February marks Dental Health Month, and South Health Aide Mrs. Cronin is stepping up her creativity. Students who have lost a tooth get to stick a paper tooth with their name on it up on the Health Clinic bulletin board.

North students earned a dance party in the gym featuring videos from the students' favorite YouTuber, Danny Go! Dances included Freeze Dance, Monkey Business, Dinosaur Dance, Exercise, and the Wiggle Dance.
Central Intermediate: Glowing Good Behavior
North students are not the only ones dancing the day away. Central Intermediate students had a neon dance party for their January incentive. Students decorated with glow sticks and glow-in-the-dark paint and danced under the black lights all throughout the day. Keep up the great work, Hornets.
