From the Desk of the Superintendent
As we get ready to turn the calendar from March to April, I want to let our families, especially those with elementary school students, know about a fantastic opportunity this spring. The Stoughton Public Schools third annual Spring Author Series starts on Monday, April 1.
On five Mondays in April and May, local children's authors and illustrators will be visiting our elementary schools for engaging and fun presentations. The first event on Monday, April 1 features author/illustrator Jannie Ho at the Dawe School (students from all of our schools are welcome to attend).
These events are free and will take place from 5-6pm. The first 75 families at each event will receive a free copy of one of the author’s books. It is a great way to spend an evening with your child(ren). Click on the button below for more information and to see a full schedule for this year's Spring Author Series.
Speaking of Monday, April 1, the Stoughton Public Schools online pre-registration portal for next school year (2024-2025 school year) will be opening that morning. Families with students entering preschool or kindergarten in September, or with a student entering grades 1-12 who did not attend the Stoughton Public Schools this school year, can begin the pre-registration process on Monday. Click on the button below for more information.
Finally, Happy Easter to those who celebrate!

Second Graders Learn About Medication Safety
Stoughton Public Schools second grade students recently learned about medication safety thanks to a program run by the Stoughton OASIS Coalition, in collaboration with the Stoughton Public Schools and Stoughton Police Department. Each elementary school had a presentation that provided second graders with four important tips for being safe around medications: only take medication from a trusted adult; never share your medicine; keep medicine in its original container; and always store medicine in a safe place.
During these presentations, students heard from their school nurse, along with experts in the field like Stephanie Patton, the Prevention Coordinator for the Town of Stoughton/OASIS Coalition; Dan Greenfield, a local retired pharmacist; Danielle Gallan, Director of Health Services for the Stoughton Public Schools; School Resource Officer Lindsay Bonda from the Stoughton Police Department; and Animal Control Officer Michelle Carlos and her comfort dog Quill.
