MBAEA Media Newsletter
March 2024
National School Library Month is just around the corner. I want to thank all school librarians and staff for their fantastic work! Often, they work behind the scenes gathering resources for upcoming units, helping students find just the right book, connecting the dots between standards, giving technology support, and offering effective ideas for using technology.
Impacts of Teacher Librarians
A wealth of research shows the connection between a strong library program and student achievement. As a leader, the teacher-librarian is well-positioned to learn, listen, and support curriculum development. Kimmel (2012) states, "Working with other educators and school administrators to develop curriculum materials makes the school librarian an integral member of the school's instructional design team."

Value of Digital Books
Katie Greving, an educator and dyslexia advocate, recommends that educators offer audiobooks in the classroom for required reading and during free reading time. Audiobooks have been show to improve literacy outcomes for all students, but they are crucial for students with dyslexia.
Several of the AEA Digital Resources provide ebook content that is available 24/7. Use the Personalization Feature eBooks flyer and explore the content available. If you would like flyers printed, please contact Heather Whitman at hwhitman@mbaea.org.
