Sterling families,

We are getting excited for the start of the school year!

Earlier in the summer, I shared with you some important dates to kick off our school year. As we have continued to enroll new students, I wanted to share again so all families can mark these dates on their calendars in preparation for the upcoming school year:

• Friday, 8/18, from 2-3 p.m.: Kindergarten Family Workshop for all kindergarten families
• Monday, 8/21, at 6 p.m.: Back to School Night for ECSE and grades K-2; 7 p.m. Back to School Night for grades 3-5. This event is for parents/adult family members.
• Wednesday, 8/23, from 1-2 p.m.: Open House for students and their adult family members
• Thursday, 8/24, is the first day of school! Doors open at 7:40 and class begins at 8 a.m.

Below you will find the school supply list for each grade level. We are fortunate to have many community organizations who support our school in acquiring school supplies and backpacks for our students, and we are able to ensure every child receives one if needed. Within the next week, we should receive the bulk of these, so please reach out to the main office beginning next week if you'd like one for your child. They will also be available at Back to School Night and Open House.

We hope our students are continuing to work on their summer challenge! Continue reading the books that were sent home in June or any others you have at home or in the library. We are asking our students to read every day, practice their summer workbook, and, if wifi is available, practice Dreambox.

When planning family trips, please plan them around school days to maintain compliance with Virginia's Compulsory Attendance laws. Students should not miss school for family trips. Student attendance in school is very important.
