The Hopewell Valley Regional School District is pleased to announce that HV Green Week will take place in all Hopewell Valley Schools from April 22nd-26th. Activities at the four elementary schools include Walk, Bike, & Roll to School, energy audits, planting with the Sourland Conservancy, waste-free lunches, a Green Expo, and more! Timberlane Middle School will host "March Mammal Madness," have an endangered sea turtle art display, and create animal habitats around the school. Students at the High School can choose from a variety Eco Lunch and Learn sessions, including meeting climate activist and creator of the Green Jobs Board Kristy Drutman. The HVCHS Youth Environmental Society and the district Climate Action Committee invite members of the community for a discussion about the development of the HVRSD Climate Action Plan on April 24 at 6:30 pm in the HVCHS Media Center. Applications are now open for the 2024 Mercer County Internship Program!
High school and college students who live, or attend school, in Mercer County may apply to a wide range of full-time and part-time internship positions. Internship opportunities are available over the summer from June through Labor Day, with a limited number of spots also available over the Winter Break and Spring Break periods Students in the program will have the opportunity to serve the public by assisting the core day-to-day work of a department or division within the Mercer County government, while acquiring valuable experience for their future careers. Interested students can visit the Mercer County website to apply, find information on the program, and read details on available positions.
HVEF's Annual Above and Beyond Gala "Boots & Bling" Friday, May 10th, Stumpy's Hatchet House, Princeton. The Gala celebrates the HVRSD 2023-2024 Governors Award Recipients Teachers and Support Staff of the Year from each of our district’s schools. These individuals go “above and beyond” to make our community so special. There will be an auction full of amazing items. Your ticket includes hatchet throwing, appetizers, an open bar, music, and more. more information.
Kindergarten Registration for the 2024-25 year is open. Kindergarten Camp will be held at all 4 Elementary Schools from July 8th -11th & July 15th -18th (M-Thurs. 8:30-11:30 am). Students must be registered for Kindergarten in order to sign up for the camp.

Thank you to Tom Walsh, Rick Smith, and the HV Track Program for organizing HV Track Gives Back. On Saturday April 13th, over 80 student-athletes volunteered their time working in the HVCHS garden, organizing donations at the HV Mobile Food Pantry, or picking up litter at designated areas throughout the township.
The Advanced Scene Study and Directing Class presents an evening of two hilarious one-act plays; Check Please: A Series of Disastrous Blind Dates and Power Line: The Story of Me, Mario, and Your Mom. on April 19th and 20th at 7:00 pm in the Black Box Theater. Tickets are $5 and can be purchased at the door. Don’t miss this funny evening of shows, directed by some of our senior theatre students!
Hopewell Valley Green Week is April 22 - 28. Sustainable Jersey for Schools and NJEA have generously provided support for the Eco Lunch and Learn Series at the high school, which will take place in the Media Center from April 22 through 26. Our keynote speaker on Earth Day will be climate activist, eco-entrepreneur, media producer, and co-founder of the Green Jobs Board, Kristy Drutman. Kristy will lead a session for HVCHS students on Monday, April 22 from 11 am to 11:51 am.*All other Eco Lunch & Learn sessions will take place within regular lunch times:

Course Eligibility: Teachers provided initial eligibility information for students in OnCourse at the conclusion of the marking period two. However, final eligibility for honors and AP classes as determined based on the students' cumulative performance at the end of marking period three, and placements may have changed based on the students' eligibility at that point. Any changes were communicated last week. Students who are now ineligible for an honors or AP level course and who meet the waiver criteria may submit a waiver form prior to April 22. Please review the Program of Studies or contact the Counseling Department for additional details.
The Junior Prom will be held at Cooper’s Riverview on May 3rd. Tickets are on sale during lunch through Monday, April 22. All students who intend to purchase a ticket should have completed the Google form permission slip with a parent or guardian. We are looking forward to a wonderful night with the Class of 2025!
Sophomore Night Out will take place on May 4 at HVCHS. Get ready for pickleball, speedball, cupcake wars, and more! Ticket purchase includes all activities, as well as food provided by Nomad Pizza Co. and Uncle Ed's. Tickets are on sale during lunch through April 26; students must complete a permission slip prior to purchasing a ticket. Get ready for a night of fun with the Class of 2026!

The week of April 29th is for Teacher and Staff Appreciation! The PTO has planned a traditional catered lunch and other special treats throughout the week to celebrate the outstanding faculty and staff at TMS. We are asking for donations from parents and guardians for gift cards from local businesses. The gift cards will be randomly given to staff as a “Thank You!” Any gift card amount is appreciated! Please send the gift cards to the Main Office with “TMS PTO” on the envelope by Friday, April 26th. In addition, please encourage your child to hand-write or type a note (not just an email), draw a picture or express their thanks to teachers and staff in another creative way. Please drop these off in the main office by Friday, April 26, 2024 as well. The messages will be delivered to the staff, including special area teachers, administration, school nurse, safety officers, paraprofessionals, custodians, and related service providers during the week of April 29th. Early Dismissals: Please advise your child of early dismissals prior to coming to school and send them to school with a note. Students need to present the note to the main office right off the bus for a pass to leave class at the time they need to leave. If the need occurs after the start of school, please call the Main Office, not TeleSafe. Please be aware Timberlane Drive is closed between 2:30 - 3:00 for TMS and CHS dismissal.

HES Color Run - To support our efforts, The Nature Harmony Project Committee, in partnership with the Green Team, will be hosting a Color Run on Saturday, April 27th at 11am.
Bring us your Shoes! - The HES PTO is excited to announce our latest fundraiser because you don't have to buy ANYTHING! With assistance from the 5th grade, we're collecting gently worn, used and new shoes to raise money to support our students and enrich their experience at HES. Collection bins will be by the HES front office during April & May, as well as at all school events (Color Run, May Day, etc.).
May Day Celebrations - May 2nd at 2:15pm: Parents are invited to our annual May Day Celebration, held outside on the HES Basketball Court. Consider bringing a blanket or a lawn chair for seating. Rain date will be Friday, May 3rd.

ReadaFun Was a Huge Success! - Since Stony Brook students exceeded their reading and fundraising goals, they were able to slime Ms. Gianfredi during an outside, school-wide meeting on Tues, 4/16. Ask your student about it … it was a lot of fun!
Autism Acceptance Day Celebration - Due to the weather, it’s rescheduled to Tuesday, 4/23. Wear “Red Instead” to support Acceptance, rather than just Awareness.
Staff Appreciation - We will be celebrating Staff Appreciation during the week of April 29th. The Stony Brook PTO has a great week planned for our staff - and we also have two new ideas for which we need your help!
1: We are looking for $10 - $15 gift card donations to raffle off during our luncheon on May 1st.
2: There is no better way to show staff appreciation than by writing thank you notes. We would love for our staff members to receive hand-written thank you notes from older students. For younger students, try this template. Notes from parents and guardians are also great! Please don't forget our secretaries, CST, counselor, nurse, paraprofessionals and custodians! Please drop items off in the Main Office or have your child deliver their "top secret" items to the Main Office. We would love to surprise everyone on May 1st! Thank you!
“One Fine Day” Celebration on May 1st - Our annual “One Fine Day” celebration is coming up and we are looking for groups of students to perform short dances (no more than 3 min) that represent the many cultures and traditions at Stony Brook! Here are the guidelines:
Organized/prepared outside of school by parents/guardians
Performed by small groups. Organizers are encouraged to include their student’s classmates. There are limited spots available for solo dances (grades 3-5)
Please contact Mr. Emhof (williamemhof@hvrsd.org) to organize a dance.

Green Week Student Expo - Many of our students in grades 3-5 have created projects around Global Climate Issues to present at our Green Week Student Expo on Wednesday, April 24th in the gym. Students in grades K-5 will visit the expo during school hours to learn more about these Global Climate Issues. Parents are invited to visit the expo from 3:00-3:30 PM. If you have any questions, please email Mrs. Kampe. A special thank you goes out to the HVEF for supporting and providing funds for this event!
Earth Day Celebration - We will be holding our Earth Day celebration, formerly known as May Day, on Wed. May 1st at 11:30am in the back field of Toll Gate. Each grade level will be participating in the event. Please bring chairs or blankets to sit on the back field for our presentation. In the event of rain, we will be moving our celebration into the gym, however, in an effort to safely fit into the gym, we will only be able to allow 5th grade parents to attend. More communication will be shared in the event of rain. Fingers crossed for beautiful weather so we can celebrate as a full school community!
Toll Gate 2023-2024 Yearbook is now on sale! Click here to purchase your copy. The last day to order is May 14th. All yearbook orders will be given to students the last week of school.
Digital Wellness Initiative at Toll Gate: Spring Parent Series “Tech Talk” - This four-part series educates parents on technology use as it pertains to your child. Save the date for the last session "Habits & Rules to set for your young children and their devices" on May 7th at TGG at 6:30pm.
Field Day will be held on Friday, May 24th. Paper order forms for Field Day t-shirts were sent home this week. Please consider purchasing a t-shirt or shorts either online (with a credit card) or send in the paper order form to the Main Office (cash only). Orders are due Friday, April 19th. An email has been sent to you to let you know what color t-shirt your child should be ordering. If you are unsure of your color, please email tgmainoffice@hvrsd.org.

HV Arts Council Color Fun Run and Walk 2024 May 4th from 3 to 4 pm, Woolsey Park
Get wonderfully colorful at the third annual Color Fun Run + Walk! Whether you choose to walk, run, or do anything in between, get ready to transform into a technicolor masterpiece while supporting the HV Arts Council.
Terhune Orchards: Kite Day! May 4th& 5th: This soaring spring festival is a perfect time to explore the farm! Make a kite, bring your own or purchase one on site. There will be music and old-fashioned games to enjoy.
Read & Pick Programs, Tues. 9:30 & 11:30: This innovative program combines a hands-on farm activity with listening to a story highlighting a fruit or farm area. Each session starts with an educational program that includes reading stories and discussing how crops are grown or learning about an area of the farm. Children then have hands-on picking time or complete a craft activity.
Hopewell PBA 322 Pickleball Tournament, Sat. May 11th at Hopewell Valley Tennis & Swim Center: Join us for a fin-filled Pickleball Tournament - whether you're a seasoned competitor or a casual player, we would love to have you join! Register by May 3rd!

Join us on May 18, 2024, for the 46th Annual Pennington 5K Race/Walk and 1 mile Kids Fun Run! Each year, the 5K/1mi fun run kicks off the Pennington Day festivities as runners and walkers will follow the USTAF-approved course starting near the HVRSD Administration building and weaving through the heart of Pennington finally finishing back at the HVRSD administration building. Princeton Youth Ballet (PYB) will present The Secret Garden, based on the beloved book by Frances Hodgson Burnett at 4 p.m. on May 11 and May 12 at the Princeton High School Performing Arts Center, 16 Walnut Lane, Princeton. Hopewell Valley Come Outside & Play! is Thurs. June 6th - Sat. June 8th. This community-wide event was established to increase awareness of nature and an appreciation of time spent outdoors. Watershed Academy for High School Students, Summer 2024 : Offers immersive environmental investigations on the 950-acre property. Each five-day session engages students in a world of science where they ask questions and identify problems, gain skills and knowledge, explore root causes of environmental injustice, propose solutions, learn about career opportunities and how to advocate for change. Schafer Sports Center: We offer campers a variety of activities including gymnastics, sports and playground games, both full and half day programs. We are also offering camp inclusion for children with special needs: Inclusion Sports Performance Training.
Rylor Lacrosse Summer Camp: 6/24-6/28. The mission is to provide a fun, safe and positive learning environment in which lacrosse players can improve their lacrosse skills and understanding of the game.
ESF’s premier collection of camps for 2024: multiple award-winning camps full of enrichment opportunities and action-packed fun activities for children in rising grades Preschool-10th. Camp runs June 24 – August 23, 2024. Extended Day is available. Princeton Day School Summer Programs: Summer Programs offers seven weeks of academic, athletic and enrichment programming on the school’s 106-acre campus. Camp facilities utilize our entire campus including our STEAM Centers and classrooms, state of the art athletic facilities, our organic garden and one of a kind ropes course. Princeton University’s Campus Recreation Summer Day Camp: Grades 1-8. The camper's day will be filled with a variety of sports, games, arts and crafts, and camp activities which will keep your camper active and engaged throughout the week. Each camp also provides weekly programs or trips for their specific grade level. All campers are given camp gear.
Princeton University Sports Camps: All camps and clinics are held on campus. Each camp is directed by the Princeton University varsity coaches, with assistance from college coaches and players from around the country.
McCarter Summer: for young stars aged 7-15! Our Summer Camps are taught by highly experienced creative arts professionals, including actors, theatre directors, choreographers, musical directors, designers, and visual artists.
Stuart Country Day School Summer Camp: Offering 22 new programs for a total of 60 sessions over 11 weeks, including exciting new offerings for high school students.
There is a camp offered every week of the summer at the preschool, lower, and middle school levels, giving families an opportunity for their daughters or sons to spend their entire summer at Stuart.
Maple Shade Farm, Hopewell: Riding lessons, equine-facilitated learning sessions and a summer nature/sports camp.
Apple Hart Farm: Farm Camp provides a rich, outdoor experience in which budding nature lovers connect with the natural world in a safe, nurturing environment.
Eggert Aquatics: Offering customized swim programming for all ages, needs and abilities.
Fal-Rooney Summer Camp: The uniqueness of our summer camps is that they’re like an all day gym class where teams compete against each other for the coveted cup at the end of the week. Our camps are geared towards those in first to ninth grade.
