St Peter's Primary School
Friday 15th March 2024
May the wind be always at your back.
May the sun shine warm upon your face,
The rains fall soft upon your fields,
And, until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of his hand.
Message from the Principal
LENT - Project Compassion will continue throughout the season of Lent with each class having their own Project Compassion box. Project Compassion aims to work towards making the lives of others better around the world. Families at St Peter’s are encouraged to donate to Project Compassion over the period of Lent. All funds raised from our Year 6 Easter Raffle will be donated to Project Compassion. For further information about Project Compassion, please visit the Caritas website. www.caritas.org.au/project-compassion
NAPLAN - NAPLAN testing for Years 3 and 5 began on Wednesday 13 March 2024. Students have now been assessed on their Writing and Reading. Next week students will be assessed on Conventions of Language (spelling, grammar and punctuation) and Numeracy. Students who are absent on the day of testing will have the opportunity to complete the assessment when they return to school prior to Friday 22 March. These assessments are a snapshot of how your child has performed on a particular day and should not cause any added stress for your child or family. Please keep these students in your prayers during this time.
PARENT - TEACHER INTERVIEWS - Parent Teacher Interviews will be held during Week Nine, commencing on Monday 25 March 2024. On Monday 25 March, school will finish early to allow for Parent Teacher Interviews to begin. Kindy students conclude at 12pm, and Pre Primary to Year 6 students will finish at 12:15pm. Parents book online to secure a specific time and are allocated a 15 minute timeslot to speak with their child’s teacher and find out how their child has settled into the 2024 school year and how he/she is progressing in his/her learning. If parents require a longer meeting, then they will need to contact the classroom teacher to arrange a separate time.
HARMONY WEEK - In 2024 Harmony Week is celebrated from 18-24 March. Harmony Week is the celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It is about inclusiveness, respect and belonging for all Australians, regardless of cultural or linguistic background, united by a set of core Australian values. Our school will celebrate Harmony Week with a variety of activities on Thursday 21 March. Students are welcome to dress in orange OR in a costume which signifies their culture OR in their school uniform and accessorised in orange. As a multicultural school, it is important to celebrate our diversity.
KINDY ENROLMENTS 2025 - I have commenced the Kindy interviews for new families looking to join St Peter’s in 2025. If you have a sibling born between 1 July 2020 and 30 June 2021 and haven’t lodged an application form, please contact Liz Cunningham (Enrolments Officer) immediately on 9338 9904 or elizabeth.cunningham@cewa.edu.au
2025 Pre Kindy applications for children born between 1 July 2021 and 30 June 2022 (2026 Kindergarten) will be considered late next term.
SWIMMING CARNIVAL - On Monday 18 March our Year 4-6 students will be involved in the
St Peter’s Swimming Carnival at Bayswater Waves. We are looking forward to each student participating and representing their faction with pride. Our sporting carnivals are a great opportunity for all members of the community to display our values of TRUE Values.
I hope all our families have a wonderful time on Sunday at our first P&F event for the year at Bayswater Bowls!

Person of the Week - Week 6 - 08/03/24
LUIS LE BRON - ONE BLUE - When considering the Junior Person of the Week, I think about someone who is special, unique, who always considers others, tries their hardest and continuously perseveres. This Luis is you.
Although you may be a quiet achiever and often do things silently. Luis, I have noticed you. Your selflessness, generosity and compassion towards your peers are somethings that shine throughout our classroom. You consistently try your hardest to follow instructions and make good choices. You forever look for ways to be helpful and when you see something that needs to be done, you are always the first to do it.
The effort and hard work you display in all learning areas and your ‘can-do’ attitude when persevering difficult tasks are recognised by all your peers. Every day you demonstrate our school’s TRUE values and are a tremendous role model for our class. You are without a doubt so incredibly deserving of this award.
Congratulations Luis on being St Peter’s Junior Person of the week!
SAGE DICKSON - FIVE BLUE - It is with great pleasure that I present Sage with the Senior Person of the Week award. You have started this year with an incredible attitude towards your learning; always ready to learn and try new things and put your best effort into all that you do.
You have demonstrated the TRUE values of Trust, Respect, Unity and Excellence and consistently show maturity, perseverance and initiative in the classroom. You have a caring and supportive nature and are always willing to help those around you. The diligent and hardworking attitude you demonstrate make you a wonderful role model to your peers.
It is wonderful to see you so engaged in lessons, consistently wanting to share your insightful thoughts and ideas with the class and get involved in a range of activities.
We are proud to recognise your outstanding qualities and can’t wait to see what you achieve throughout the year and in the future.
I am honoured to present you with this award and express my sincerest congratulations to you on this well-deserved achievement!

Costume Call!
We are seeking pre-loved costumes, props, and accessories for students to use during Drama lessons. We are looking for a variety of different costumes, props, and accessories; however, we are specifically after accessories/costumes for The Three Little Pigs and Little Red Riding Hood.
If you have any that you would like to donate, please ensure they are in good condition with no holes or stains and please drop off at the front of the Dance and Drama room in a bag clearly labelled, ‘Drama Costumes.'
Thank you for your ongoing support!

Performing Arts - Dance Troupe
It is that time of year again where we are looking for interest in students in Years Five and Six who would like to join our Dance Troupe for the annual Performing Arts Festival.
We will be rehearsing after school from 3:15-4:15pm every Tuesday starting from Term Two, Week One (16th April) and continuing through to mid-August. We encourage all students, even if they have never danced before.
If your child is interested, please encourage him / her to write his / her name on the sign-up sheet located outside the Dance and Drama room by Thursday of Week 9 (28th March) and then come along to the first rehearsal.
During the first rehearsal, students will be given an enrolment form that explains the commitment involved. Please note, to be a part of Dance Troupe, this year we are requiring a $15 entry fee per child to cover costs of costumes for the performance (this excludes shoes that will have to be purchased by parents closer to the date). Once your child sends back the enrolment form, they are dedicating themselves to every rehearsal after school for the duration of the rehearsal period, so please make sure they are available.
If for any reason they cannot attend a rehearsal, please email me at Katrina.Abreu@cewa.edu.au.
Kind regards,
Dance Troupe Team
