Dear Lincoln, Logan & McPherson County 4-H Families,

I love this time of year as there is great anticipation for opportunities ahead. Summer is a great time to focus on things we are passionate about (like 4-H!). Speech/Music, Entrepreneurship, Art, Baking, Agriculture, whatever it is, take what you love and make it a 4-H project! Our fair book is available online. Browse through the projects available and have fun.

I am loving seeing new and seasoned families to our 4-H community getting enrollments complete! If you are a new 4-H family I encourage you to get connected. Our office staff would love to visit with you and assist you with finding other people in our 4-H community to mentor you through your first year. You belong in 4-H and we want to embody you and make you feel welcome as you start your 4-H journey. As a group of 300+ members in LLM 4-H I am confident there is a place for you to make a connection and learn something new. Seasoned 4-H families, I challenge you to invite a friend to a 4-H club meeting, SPIN club, workshop, etc. Growth is always welcome. There are also many opportunities to volunteer and try something new. I encourage you to step outside your comfort zone and dive into everything 4-H has to offer.

The 4-H Horse Stampede entry portal is open! Also, new for 2024 is the addition of elementary age group (8-10) for all contests.

the Phelps County Small Animal Progress Show. Please encourage your 4-H families to participate in this great show! Not only will we have a show but also showmanship tips, prizes, rabbit & poultry id contest. Clover Kids are welcome to show for a rainbow ribbon. Concessions are available.

Please join us for our annual Nebraska 4-H Horse Judging School on April 20, 2024, at the Animal Science Complex on the University of Nebraska-Lincoln's East Campus in Lincoln, NE.

This event is for horse show judges, aspiring judges, judging team coaches, and senior age youth! We will have classroom demonstrations and live horse judging.

The main topics covered are Judging 4-H, Rules and Guidelines, Conformation, Ranch Riding and Trail.

We want to encourage our 4-H members to learn about their animals a little deeper, so we want to let you all know about our record books.

Forms:

• Nebraska 4-H Animal Record (Rabbit, Poultry, Goat, Sheep, Swine, Beef) (Horse)
• Nebraska 4-H Companion Animal Record ( Cats, Dogs, Pets- Cage birds, gerbils, hamsters, fish, etc.)
• 4-H Bucket Calf Record Book for 4-H Age Kids
• 4-H Bucket Calf Record Book for Clover Kids

Deadline:

September 15th by 5 pm to the extension office!
