Principals Message
Happy Friday DKMS parents! It was another great week in the middle school!
We are down to one day left of M-STEP testing. Our 5th grade students will be taking the final two parts of the M-STEP test on Wednesday May 1st. Please make sure your child is getting a good night's sleep, eats breakfast, and comes to school with a charged Chromebook and their charger. Thank you to our 6th, 7th, and 8th graders for being here to take their state tests!
Further down in our newsletter you will see the dates for Summer School. Summer school will run from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. We will offer students transportation to and from school, breakfast, and lunch. Our summer school dates will be:
- Tuesday June 18th and Wednesday June 19th
- Tuesday June 25th and Wednesday June 26th
- Tuesday July 9th and Wednesday July 10th
- Tuesday July 23rd and Wednesday July 24th
- Tuesday July 30th and Wednesday 31st
Next Friday, I will be sending home summer school invitations to students based on their attendance, grades, and teacher recommendations. If your child does not receive an invitation and you would like them to attend summer school, please let their teacher or our office know that you would like your child to get an invitation. The deadline to sign up for summer school will be Friday May 17th.
I would like to congratulate Mahrle Little and Joshua DeVries for being our "No Tardy" tablet winners! We will continue to draw one name each week from the list of students who did not have any tardies that week. Keep up the great work Panthers!
Our middle school track team's schedule has changed. Monday April 29th's meet in Fennville has been cancelled. Instead that meet will be held on Tuesday April 30th at Parchment High School.
As we end April and begin May, I would like to remind parents and students about staying eligible to go on the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade field trips. Please remember that attendance, grades, and behavior are all a part of the criteria to go. We have a few weeks to go before the trips and I would like as many students eligible to go as possible! If you have questions or need financial assistance for the field trip please reach out to your child's teacher.
As always, I would like to thank our staff, students, families, and community for all of their hard work. As a team we are able to help all of our students have success academically, athletically, socially, and emotionally. I am truly grateful for everyone's help in this process!
Just Can't Hide That PANTHER PRIDE!!!
Thank you,
