Principal's Message
Dear Parents,
As we approach the end of the school year, we are excited to announce that we will be starting our ABC countdown! This fun and engaging activity will help us count down the remaining days of the school year while having a blast with different themed days for each letter of the alphabet.
We also want to invite you to our Fine Arts Night, which will take place next Tuesday evening. Join us for a celebration of creativity and talent as our students showcase their artistic achievements.
Towards the end of the month, we will begin our MAP testing to demonstrate the growth our students have made since the beginning of the year. This assessment is an important tool to track progress and celebrate achievements.
We want to express our gratitude to all the kindergarten parents who have attended our Parent Engagement in Literacy Nights. We have had three amazing sessions so far focusing on various aspects such as parents' hopes and dreams for their child, the power of oracy, and phonemic awareness.
If you haven't been able to attend any of the previous sessions, don't worry, there is still time! Our final session on vocabulary is scheduled for May 14th. We encourage you to sign up using this link and join us for dinner and enriching conversations about supporting your child on their literacy journey.
Thank you for your continued support and involvement in your child's education.
Warm regards,
Natalie Cowley

April Interactive Home Calendar English/Spanish
During the month of April, we will be busy learning about self control - what it is, why it’s important and how to practice it. Learning happens best when it is done both at school and at home. Click on the parent letter link to discover ways that you can help your child continue to learn about the theme of self control, through reading about it, talking about it, and practicing it! We are having fun exploring this topic at school, and I hope your family will enjoy it just as much! Click on the self-control calendar link above to find open-ended questions to start conversations or activities you can do with your students to promote an understanding of self-control at home in the month of April. When days are completed please initial that box. At the end of the month please have the student return the initialed calendar by 5/6 to receive a certificate and Crosby Cash.
What is Self-Control?
Self-Control is the ability to control your feelings and behaviors to make good choices. During Character Education students made their own Self-Control stoplight. This helps students visualize the process of gaining control over their emotions and actions.
Red Light: When they start to feel overwhelmed or upset, they should think of the red light. This means they need to stop and take a moment to calm down.
Yellow Light. This represents the need to slow down, think about the situation, and consider their options.
Green Light: Symbolizes taking action. After reflecting on their emotions and options, students can choose an appropriate response and move forward.
Encourage students to practice the self-control stoplight whenever they feel they are losing self-control. With time and practice, this technique can become a helpful tool for managing emotions and actions.
