March 1, 2024
Greetings TVMS families,
Last Friday our students had an amazing time at our Sneaker Ball dance! Thank you to all the staff and parents who volunteered as chaperones or contributed to our Den Dollar raffle drawings. Your support truly made the event memorable for our students.
On Thursday, we held Town Hall meetings with our students. These grade level meetings were dedicated to reinforcing behavior and academic expectations. Specifically, we discussed the following key areas:
- Respecting each other's space
- Monitoring technology usage
- Using appropriate language
- Being present and engaged in classes
- Respecting our school and its property
For the remainder of the year, we are placing an emphasis on punctuality and minimizing breaks during class periods to increase focus and maximize instruction time. Please take a moment to review these expectations with your child.
Thank you for your ongoing support. Have a wonderful weekend.
Mrs. Denise Young, Principal

MISA Testing for 8th graders
The Maryland Integrated Science Assessment (MISA) is a science assessment for 8th grade students. This assessment provides educators, parents, and the public with information on student progress towards science literacy.
At TVMS, MISA has been scheduled for March 4th, 5th, 7th, and 8th during your student's Science class.
It is essential all students come to school on time on testing days and we ask that you not schedule appointments or early dismissals on testing days. Additionally, students should bring their charged Chromebook and charger to use during testing. Students should continue to bring all classroom materials.
Personal electronic devices (cell phones, ipads, smart watches, etc.) are not permitted in the testing areas.
Please contact Kristy Ritchie, Assistant Principal at 410-313-8711 with any questions.
As always, thank you for your support and flexibility!
PLEDGE Summer Camp- Registration opens March 1
The P.L.E.D.G.E. Leadership Camp is a week-long experience that teaches leadership, communication, teamwork, and decision-making abilities. The program is specifically designed to assist rising 9th graders to adjust to high school. Through a series of discussions and practical activities, participants learn the value of teamwork and develop leadership skills. Lessons and activities challenge their ability to make critical decisions, focus on core beliefs and values, recognize diversity and accept these differences as they work together towards a common goal. The P.L.E.D.G.E. mission continues into high school, as the 9th grade students and their School Resource Officer (SRO) strengthen their relationship. The SRO mentors the incoming freshman with P.L.E.D.G.E. student meetings to discuss high school social issues effecting their transition progress. P.L.E.D.G.E. students are invited to attend monthly day trips around the region with the SROs.
