A Publication for ENGC Parents and Students
From the Principal's Desk
Dear Parents and Students,
Welcome back to the second semester! We're excited to continue our partnership in ensuring the success of our students. Regular attendance is crucial, so please encourage your child to be present in class. If they are absent, send them with an excuse note.
Congratulations to our students who achieved academic success last semester with 3.5 credits. We've had insightful class talks on safety, success, and the path to becoming sophomores next year.
As we gear up for the STAAR tests in Biology, Algebra, and English I, stress the importance of passing these exams to alleviate concerns throughout their high school journey. Interventions and prep has already started.
Additionally, our ESL students will be taking TELPAS in February, a state assessment that evaluates reading, writing, listening, and speaking skills.Your involvement in this partnership ensures our kids are set for success. Let's work together to prepare them for a successful sophomore year.
Sincerely,
Sana Aleem
Principal
Ms. Whiting: ENGC Teacher of the Year 2023-2024
AP Corner
The second semester has officially started and class of 2027 ENGC students are halfway through the year and on their way to becoming Sophomores in just a few months. The best way to stay on the right path to success is by establishing good work and personal habits both here at school and home. Parents and guardians, please be in constant communication with your student's teachers, counselors, and assistant principals through Home Access or Kinvolved and respond with a reply if the matter involves attendance, grades, or any interventions (tutorials) if their progress is below 75 at any point during the school year. We believe that a team approach is the key to ensure that all of our Freshmen finish strong with support and encouragement from home plus motivation and guidance here at ENGC! Go Mighty Rams!
Counselors' Corner
CLASS TALKS & TRANSCRIPTS: The ENGC Counselors met with students on January 25th in their World Geography classes. Our major grades will include

Essay about how we define intelligence
Students can access the StudySync workbook materials online in the Alief Hub using the McGraw Hill LTI app.
Art
The semester is off to a great start for the Art students! To welcome 2024 we set some goals and aspirations for the new year by drawing images and symbols of what we hope to achieve inside of a big ‘24’. Up next we will work on our self-portrait drawings, which is the most challenging drawing of the course but it always ends up being a favorite.
In February, select students will be participating in the statewide Art competition, VASE. So we look forward to bringing home some gold medals! The rest of the semester will be filled with some 3D artwork; ceramics, cardboard sculpture, and paper mache. Attendance and time management are key to being successful in this semester of Art I and Art II.
