SAEBRS Screener

Teachers will be completing the SAEBRS screening tool for each of their students this month. The District Window for completing this benchmark is 1/22-1/26. Please see the District letter linked below for more information.

MAP Testing

Our District Window for MAP testing is 1/9-1/26. Grade level teams will be determining the days they will be administering these assessments. Please look for information from your child's teacher regarding dates. Note that if classes were scheduled today, teachers will be modifying dates previous shared.

Arbor Lunch Program

Arbor has launched a new interactive menu platform called My School Menus. Below is what has been shared in Skyward Family Access. This will allow parents to count carbs and track allergens if need be.

5th Grade DARE Graduation

Parents of 5th grade students, please save the date for their upcoming DARE Graduation. This ceremony will be held at 10:00 at Hannum on Monday, January 22, 2024. If you are planning to attend this event, please indicate your information on the form. Additionally, you will need to have put your information into our Visitor Aware Program in order for us to print your badge. We are asking all guests to have these steps completed by the end of this week. In the event that you did not have the chance to scan the QR code produced from our Visitor Aware Program prior to coming on Monday, you should plan to arrive to school on Monday the 22nd at 9:30 to allow enough time to process this information and get your badge printed. If you are already in our system, we will print your badge (but you must be on the guest list linked above by the Friday at 3:30pm. If you have any questions, please contact our office. You can access Visitor Aware here and the link is also provided in the form above.

5th Grade Candor Health Program

Each year, our 5th grade students attend an engaging and interactive health program. This year, our students will attend this program on Tuesday, January 23rd. Permission forms will be coming home soon. Please note that you have the option to opt your child out of attending, but in the event that you do, they are still expected to attend school that day.

Trimester 2 Continues

We have reviewed our expectations with the students to kick off the new trimester. Please continue to reiterate the importance of demonstrating our Bear Behaviors so that your child can participate in the Trimester 2 Celebration. Just a reminder that the criteria set forth by our PBIS team is as follows:

• Having fewer than 5 missing assignments
• Receiving 3 or fewer behavioral referrals throughout the trimester
• Serving a suspension of any kind

Order your Be Kind spirit wear today! Be Kind spirit wear orders are due this Thursday, January 18th. Be Kind spirit wear will arrive in time for Kindness week, February 12-16, for students to wear during that week and any other day they would like. All orders need to be placed online.

Open Gym – January 18th

If you are interested in helping out with the Open Gym or have a middle school or high school student looking for volunteer hours, we are looking for volunteers for set-up, concessions and take down. Winter Party – Reschedule Date

The winter party has been rescheduled for January 26th. The party will still be during your student’s PE class. The winter-themed craft was sponsored by the Hannum PTA.

Special Man and Daughter Dance

Mark your calendar for the special man and daughter dance – February 16th from 6-8pm at the Johnson-Phelps VFW Post #5220, Oak Lawn. Check out the flyer and reservation form that went home today. Reservation forms are due by February 6th.

We can set up a time for delivery or pick-up, so they remain a surprise, if you choose, please just make note of it on the form. Items are in stock, so orders will have a quick turnaround.

Arrival

Upon their arrival, Bears should line up with their grade level peers in the locations listed below. Students will be escorted into the building by staff at 8:30 am. Students participating in the breakfast program will be permitted into the building at 8:10 am.

• KDG & 1st: Arrive and Dismissed at Door 9

• G2: Arrive & Dismissed at Door 2

• G3: Arrive Door 2 & Dismissed at Main Entrance (Door 1)

• G4 & G5 Arrive & Dismissed at Door 8

Dismissal

When school is dismissed at 3:20 pm, students are able to walk home or meet their parents/ caregivers outside of the school. Older children who walk younger siblings or neighbors should meet them in a prearranged location outside of the building and will be dismissed first in order to pick up their sibling or relative.

***This year 2nd grade students and 5th grade students end their day with Encore Classes and PE which go until 3:20.

Breakfast will be served in the main hall of our school beginning at 8:10 am. Students will enjoy their breakfast in our multipurpose room and then will go to their line to start the day.

Lunch will be ordered with your child's classroom teacher every morning. Students will be able to choose from 2 choices. Student can also bring a home lunch and only order a milk. Milk only is $0.65 and students can choose white or chocolate. You can add money to your child's meal account through Skyward. You may access the menus below.

Please see the attached map for where to drop off and where you can park if you want to get out and walk your child to their line.

Here are some reminders for helping us get kids in and out of school safely.

• Pull up as far as you can go w hen you are letting students out of the car.
• Refrain from parking across the street and having kids run across to get either to the school or back to your car.
• Be patient as kids are getting out of the car.
• Refrain from blocking the entrance and exit of the school parking lots.
• Please do not park in the driveway of St. Germaine School. (You may pull into the spots in their parking lot, but do not park in the driveway. )

Last year D123 began using the Visitor Aware program to immediately identify visitors, along with when they arrived, and where they are going

In order to ensure a smooth visit to the school, please use THIS LINK to complete the pre-registration for Visitor Aware.

Once pre-registered, you will be prompted to take a picture of yourself and answer the questions, including DL#. Once you do this they will be in the system. You will receive their QR code via text and email. This QR code is what you will use when checking into the school for a visit.
