Message from Principal, Adam Mitchell
It has been great to get settled back into a school routine after spring break, especially with some sunny and warm days!
I would like to encourage all of our families to spend a few minutes this weekend talking about your student's cell phone use at school and in class. Most likely, your student is doing well and it is not a consistent distraction for them. However, the reality for a lot of us and our students, is that there are times throughout the day that phones become a distraction to being productive. With our school goal being to have students achieve the most that they can, we ask that cell phones be "Away, Away" during class time. Our staff continues to notice a very strong correlation between academic success and students who are off of their cell phones during the class period. Please encourage your student to make mature and responsible choices regarding when they are on their phone at school, it will be beneficial to them!
Have a great weekend and Go Bowmen!
Mr. Mitchell

Drama. It happens so frequently during the high school years that some people have come to accept it as a normal part of teenage life. But when that drama involves gossip and spreading rumors, that is anything but normal. In fact, for those who are impacted, gossip can be downright painful and almost impossible to ignore – especially if social media is being used to spread it.
Consequently, kids who are being gossiped about are negatively impacted. For instance, gossip and rumors can destroy a person’s self-confidence and affect their self-esteem. It also can lead to depression, suicidal thoughts, self-harm, eating disorders, anxiety, and a host of other issues.
Gossip and rumors can alienate friends, ruin reputations, and even lead to ostracizing behavior and other forms of relational conflict. It often leads to misunderstandings, hurt feelings and damaged friendships.
There are a variety of reasons why kids will spread rumors or engage in gossip. But most kids gossip or spread rumors to fit in with their friends, as a way to feel special or to impress others. By talking about others they can deflect attention from themselves. If everyone else in their circle of friends is gossiping or spreading rumors, kids feel like they have to do the same thing in order to be accepted. Many times peer pressure will play a factor in spreading rumors or gossiping.
There has been a large increase in gossip related drama involving students the last two weeks and our goal is to help students recognize the impact engaging in this type of behavior can have on the school culture, on themselves and on their peers. We appreciate your partnership in talking with your students about gossip and rumors and how they can do their part to minimize the drama and relational damage and actively engage in kindness and respect to others.
Student Fees
As we approach Prom season and the end of the school year, it is a good time to check your student's account for any outstanding fees. Juniors and Seniors wishing to attend Prom must have all their fees paid in order to purchase tickets. Seniors also must have their fees paid in order to participate in the graduation ceremony at the end of the year.
Account statements have been sent directly to families. Fees can always be checked in StudentVUE and ParentVUE. Fees can be paid with cash or check at the Bookkeeper window before school, during lunches, and after school. If you wish to use a credit card to pay fees, you can do so through StudentVUE and ParentVUE (there is a small fee).
