Who is ready for Spring? But, wait, have we even had winter? It’s been a difficult year for our snow loving businesses for certain. Celebration Of The Lakes definitely has a different feeling when we are not able to be on top of the lake, playing on its ice, yet it was a success! As a community event, games were played, contests were won and polkas were danced! Next year, we will hope for strong ice depths and events to take place on the lake. Have you thought about how you might get involved next season?
To answer my original question, I am ready for spring and the beginning of planting and planning season. This time of year, we refresh our homes and spaces. At Glädje, we are resetting the entire building and taking care of some construction projects within as well as preparing to refresh the exterior and rebuild the sidewalks with Bluhm Construction and Mickelson Landscaping. Are you in need of ideas or contractors and local businesses that will help you bring that vision to life? The Chisago Lakes Business Showcase, held at the Wildcat Community Center, is March 23rd from 9am to 4pm. The Home and Business Show has been rebranded to bring local businesses to the front. It is a FREE one-day-only event and will be full of local businesses from both brick-and-mortar to home and pop-up businesses, all are ready to assist you in your vision and inspiration. The event promises to be condensed yet impactful experience for both vendors and attendees. The Chisago Lakes area has an abundance of resources for interior, exterior, landscaping, equipment, real estate, insurance and decorating. You will also find special goods and services as well! If you have a desire to reach our local community, vendor spaces are still available. Reach out to the Chamber and grab a spot!
March is also women's history month. The National Women’s History Alliance designates a yearly theme for Women's History Month. The 2024 theme is "Women who Advocate for Equity, Diversity and Inclusion." This theme recognizes women throughout the country who understand that, for a positive future, we need to eliminate bias and discrimination entirely from our lives and institutions. Our community is full of a diverse group of women owned and woman directed businesses, Elleholm Barn, The Landscaper’s Daughter, Sven’s Comfort shoes, The Little Bit Shop, Studio Lola, J & K Trophy House, Copy Pro, Ginger Snaps Back Photography, Amy Reisdorf Airbnb, Gustaf's on Main Eatery, Sunborn Stables, Anderson Ice Cream, Chisago History Center, House of Happy, Glädje, Women’s Environmental Institute at Amador Hill, Twinflower Books, Almelund Mercantile, Picket Fence Gals, Beancounters, Farm and Thread, Rustic Roots Salon, Designers Salon Spa, In the Moment Boutique, The Oven Mitt, to name only a handful. I have personally noticed within this group of women, positivity and willingness to work together and collaborate.
Easter is early this year and many of these local businesses are prepared to help you fill your Easter baskets. With the lack of snow, kids of all ages will surely find the Easter eggs at our park’s 11th annual Chisago City Egg Hunt, Saturday, March 23rd 2-4 pm. Join in the fun! Area Churches are preparing their special events and sermons and if you have not been to St. Bridget’s Friday Fish Fry, its time! The fish is delicious and the hosts and crew are so accommodating.
As you look forward to spring, Easter and playing in the last snow falls or puddles, I hope you support local businesses and services. As always, we would love to hear from our members! Your Chamber wants to know how to better serve you and your local small business. Reach out and let us know how we’re doing!

St. Croix Festival Theatre
St. Croix Festival Theatre invites you to a spanking good time, with CommedAI. A live comedy show which combines classical Italian Commedia Dell'Arte and the pesky A.I. that's plotting to destroy us all.
Come watch six classically trained actors as they fight the good fight, to spread joy and merriment, AND hopefully appease our soon-to-be technological overlords with improvisational storytelling!
