Easton School Newsletter (Volume 2, Edition 53)
Week of March 4 - March 8
Superintendent Information
Dear Jaguar Families,
Several items upcoming at Easton School.
Spring sports are in full swing now at Easton, with Junior High Volleyball and High School Track & Field. The Jags would love to see Easton fans in the bleachers. Please take a moment and review their schedules below and come out and support our Jags when you are able. The research is very clear that students who participate in extracurricular activities, such as athletics, perform better in school.
Secondly, thinking ahead a couple of weeks, Friday March 15th, is set for a "Snow Make Up" on our school calendar. With our improving weather, my guess is that will be becoming a "non school day" for students and staff. So unless we have a terrible weather event or some other emergency within the building between now at March 14, please mark on your calendars that there will be No School on Friday March 15.
Lastly, Spring Parent Conferences will be on March 27 and March 28 with both afternoon sessions and an evening session on Thursday, March 28th. Please see below for more information.
Thank you and Go Jags!

Attendance Matters
DID YOU KNOW?
- By being present at school, your child learns valuable social skills and has the opportunity to develop meaningful relationships with other students and school staff.
- Starting in kindergarten, absences can cause children to fall behind in school.
- Missing 10 percent (just two days a month or about 18 days in a year) increases the chance that your student will not read or master math at the same level as their peers. • Students can still fall behind if they miss just a day or two days every few weeks.
- By 6th grade, absenteeism is a signs that a student may drop out of high school.
- By 9th grade, regular and high attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores.
WHAT YOU CAN DO
- Set a regular bedtime and morning routine.
- Prepare for school the night before, finishing homework and getting a good night’s sleep.
- Follow our on when to keep your child home due to illness.
- If possible, avoid appointments and extended trips when school is in session.
- Develop back-up plans for getting to school if something comes up. Call on a family member, a neighbor, or another parent.
- Keep track of your student’s attendance. Missing more than 9 days could put your student at risk of falling behind.
- Talk to your student about the importance of attendance.
- Talk to your students’ teachers if you notice sudden changes in behavior.
- Encourage meaningful afterschool activities, including sports and clubs.
