Principals Corner: March is Teacher/Parent Conferences & Future Scheduling Month!
Good morning Hawks families,
By now you have likely reserved your time slots with teachers for the upcoming March 4-7 Teacher/Parent conferences. There are still plenty of opportunity and availability left for families to schedule time with their student's teachers. Below is the link to the Sign-Up Genius spreadsheet for you to be able to secure a conference time slot.

Additionally, this month we launch into Future Scheduling with the students. This means our counselors will spend time connecting with each student to ensure they sign-up for preferred classes for next school year. We encourage students and families to review our Course Catalogue, Four-Year Planner, and Grad Check together, and to consider which "Momentum Courses" students may be interested in taking to prepare them for post high school success.
In this edition of the Hawks Happenings newsletter, we share information about upcoming events, celebrations and much more.
If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out at 509-522-3312.
Thank you and Go Hawks!

Future Scheduling: Signing up for classes for the 2024-2025 school year!
March is Future Scheduling Month!
March is the annual time in high schools where we start to think about the next school year. We have planned to launch with our students on Monday, March 11 into the Future Scheduling window.
This is a time where we share with the entire student body, our updated course catalogue, Four Year Planner, and Graduation Requirement check sheet. We will have an Electives Fair on Thursday, March 14th during the school day in the afternoon, and then the following weeks will see our counselors going into English classrooms to register students for courses in our system.
Below are a few links to some documents we share with students during Future Scheduling.

Instructional Shout-Out: Cathy Mebes
March 2024 Teacher Shout-Out goes to Cathy Mebes!
CPHS Media teacher, Cathy Mebes, is one of our most beloved teachers. Her belief in kids and engaging instructional delivery is one of the reasons why so many students flock to her classes!
As the Yearbook advisor, Adv. Media and Media instructor as well, her focus is for students to collaborate and work as if they are in an industry setting. This gets students excited about meeting deadlines, having daily circle up meetings, and ensuring students are keeping each other accountable for their parts of a project. See the Winter 2024 Hawks Highlight video below produced by our own Advanced Media students.
Thank you Ms. Cathy Mebes for being such a student focused dynamic teacher!

Migrant Student/Parent Conference: "Together Towards Tomorrow"
Celebration of a Successful Conference!
Shout out to the families and students who attended the Migrant Student/Parent conference "Together Towards Tomorrow" held in Pasco just recently. Families and students enjoyed hearing from the speakers and engaging in some new learning. Thank you Gear-Up Coordinator Kassi Gutierrez and CTE Student Support Samanta Valladares for chaperoning this field trip event!
March celebrates Women's History Month!
Women's History Month at CPHS
March is Women's History Month and our CPHS Social studies have some intentional lessons planned that highlight the amazing contributions of Women throughout history.
From American Government learning of Supreme Court justices and critical thinking related to famous quotes and decision rendered, to Rosie the Riveter in US History, our teachers spend a little extra time this month intentionally learning about important aspects of history that were lead by the efforts of extraordinary women.
Our ASB is also planning on sharing inspirational women's history stories through the AM morning announcements and in a hallway gallery of visual images for students to see when walking down the hallway.
