April is Volunteer Appreciation Month!
It is Volunteer Appreciation Month and we want to take a moment to express our deepest gratitude for all of our District volunteers for their many contributions to our school community. Our volunteers' willingness to share their time, talents, and enthusiasm makes a world of difference for our students and staff. Thank you, volunteers!
April is Month of the Military Child!
We hope you'll "Purple Up" on Monday, April 15 for military kids
April is designated as the Month of the Military Child. On Monday, April 15th, the community is encouraged to wear purple to show support and thank military children for their strength and sacrifices.
We hope that Bremerton School District students, staff and others in the community will wear purple this Monday as we honor the approximately 1200 military-connected students in the Bremerton School District!
We'd love to see your "Purple Up" photos! Please share them with us by tagging us or commenting on Facebook and Instgram, or send them to Communications@BremertonSchools.org.
Note: Kitsap Lake Elementary has a special assembly later in the month and will be celebrating "Purple Up" day on April 15 and Thursday, April 25.

BSD to receive additional support for student success
Dear families,
We have an opportunity to partner with the Office of System and School Improvement (OSSI) to provide additional supports for all of our schools.
The Office of Superintendent of Public Instruction (OSPI) developed the Washington School Improvement Framework (WSIF) to identify schools for supports under the federal Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA). The WSIF measures schools with 11 indicators using data from the past five years to determine target areas to increase student achievement. The WSIF data for each school can be accessed on the Washington State Report Card. Based on these indicators, schools are identified in a “tier” and then can access levels of support from OSSI.
The supports offered schools will include Comprehensive Improvement Partners and region-specific resources from our local Educational Service District. Schools may also qualify to receive additional funds to target specific student learning needs.
We need your help!
In the coming weeks, schools will be developing their School Improvement Plan, identifying student growth goals and activities for 2024-25 school year, in collaboration with staff, families, and community partners. If you are interested in participating in this process, please contact your school principal!

2024-25 registration is open!
Registration is open for the 2024-25 school year! If you know a family with a student who will be attending kindergarten in the fall, or who recently moved or will be moving to Bremerton, please encourage them to visit BremertonSchools.org/Register.

Reminder for families of Native American or Alaska Native heritage
The Bremerton School District Native American/Alaskan Native Program receives funding through a federal grant from the Office of Indian Education. Our grant funding is based upon the number of Title VI Student Eligibility Certification Forms (506 forms) received for each active student. If your student is of Native American or Alaska Native heritage and you haven't yet completed this form, we invite you to complete the 506 form today here! Completed forms can be emailed to Wendy.Bender@bremertonschools.org or returned to your school’s office.
