Women's History Month - Who Am I? Contest
March is Women's History Month. Women's History Month celebrates the contributions women have made and recognizes the specific achievements women have made over the course of history.
FHS thought it would be fun to celebrate by having a Who Am I? Contest where pictures of prominent and accomplished females are posted in the hallway with a "shamrock shaped" description of their accomplishments. Students are being asked to match the accomplishment to the correct image with a chance to win a prize.

Ambassadors Celebrates 45 Years
Once upon a time, there was a group of kids who loved to sing, dance, and perform....the year was 1979...the group became the Fenton Ambassadors.
Under the direction of the late Maxine Archie, the first Ambassadors met after school as an extra-curricular activity. During the years that followed, the Ambassadors became a class, meeting during the regular school day, as well as having extended after-school rehearsals totaling approximately seven hour per week.
The group continues to grow and change. Since the beginning, we have had five fantastic directors - including the late Ray Voorhees, Lynn Ferguson and Catherine Letovsky. For the past 24 years, the Ambassadors have been under the direction of Brad Wright, a graduate of FHS and an alumnus of the group. We have had hundred of students participate in this program and many have gone to college to pursue degrees in music and/or fine arts.
Over the years, the Ambassadors have participated in chorale festivals in places such as New York, Chicaco, Boston, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Memphis, Washington, D.C., Toronto, Williamsburg, St. Louis, and Orlando.
Ths year marks the forty-fifth year for the FHS Ambassadors.

Positivity Project: Theme of the Week: Love of Learning
This week our school community will be focusing on the character strength of Love of Learning. Love of learning means you master new topics on your own or in school.
Those with a love of learning are intrinsically motivated and engaged in a topic regardless of achieving an external standard. They enjoy learning simply for the sake of learning. They don’t need a prize of a high grade as a reward. Their reward is the process of doing the work and improving.
Developing a love of learning is highly beneficial for an individual. It means that they are intrinsically motivated to deepen their existing skills and abilities, or learn something completely new. Since intrinsically motivated action is correlated with positive emotions, those who act on their love of learning may also have enhanced mental and physical health. Additionally, individuals who love learning have the desire and ability to overcome challenges, due to a sense of autonomy and control over their environment.

Online Protection for Children
Are your children safe while online? Michigan families, especially minors, are becoming inundated with advertisements from alcohol, tobacco, pornography, illegal drugs and gambling marketers through different internet and cell phone inboxes. To reduce these influences on youth, the State of Michigan offers a free program to stop adult advertisements from reaching e-mails, text messages, Instagram, Snapchat and Twitter. The Michigan Child Protection Registry, like the federal Do Not Call List, is a free do-not-contact service for Michigan’s families and can be located at www.ProtectMIChild.com."
