Lyman Memorial High School
March, 2024
Principals' Message
Hello, Lyman Bulldogs & our Lyman Families!
Quarter 3 is over and progress reports have been mailed. This means that there are less than 50 days remaining to the academic school year! We can not believe how fast the year has flown by. Spring is a busy time of year at Lyman. Look for information regarding upcoming events and special celebrations as we wrap up the year. Students and staff will be on April Break from Monday, April 8th through Friday, April 12th. The school will post when the office will be open during the break. We hope that you have a relaxing vacation and enjoy spending time with friends and family.
April 17th is the PSAT for Freshmen. Details will be sent out soon.
Remember, Mr. Apicelli and I have open doors. Please call, email or come in for a conversation.
Be well,
Mr. Apicelli and Mrs. Mike

Lymn Model UN
The Lyman Model UN met on Tuesday, March 12th to hold a mini-conference addressing the current crisis in the Eastern Congo. Students represented several Security Council and central African nations in discussions about the conflict and proposed resolutions to address the ongoing violence in that region. Members of the Lyman Debate Club joined in on the conference and assisted with filling out the speakers list and presenting negotiated solutions.
A message from the nurses office:
As we approach the end of cold & flu season, allergy season is already here! Stock up on your preferred over the counter antihistamine and prepare your children to start taking them sooner rather than later, especially those participating in spring sports! As I hope everyone has heard, the covid policy has officially been lifted at the recommendation of the CDC. Documentation they've provided with updated guidance on all respiratory viruses and general questions and answers are attached below. Another REMINDER that the state of Connecticut requires all students in the 10th grade to show proof of a health assessment completed anytime between January 2023 and June 2024. The student will not be allowed to return to school until the health office has documentation of a completed physical within that time frame. If you are concerned with your student's compliance, please feel free to call me at 860-642-7673 or email at madison.doucettte@lebanonct.org. Thank you! I hope everyone has a safe, healthy & restful spring break.
Counseling News & Updates
Students recently selected courses for next year through Powerschool. The Class Registration portal was open until March 7th. If a student did not complete course requests or has questions/concerns he/she should see their counselor to make any changes. Please keep future career interests in mind when picking electives. It is a good opportunity to learn more about areas of interest. It is important to note that these selections are not the student's actual schedule for next year, but rather a list of prefered classes. Course selections will be mailed home once completed.

Lyman Athletics
Spring Sports: After a successful winter season, the spring season is upon us and with it, an opportunity for our students to participate in a number of athletic programs. This season, our student-athletes will have the opportunity to participate in Baseball and Softball, Boys and Girls Tennis and Boys and Girls Outdoor Track and Field. Each of these sports provides a unique blend of teamwork, skill, and perseverance, promising not only thrilling competitions but also invaluable life lessons along the way.
We encourage our students to take full advantage of these opportunities, whether they're seasoned athletes or looking to try something new. Participation in sports fosters a sense of community, builds resilience, and promotes a healthy lifestyle. Our dedicated coaches are ready to guide and inspire our athletes towards achieving their personal and team goals.
Competition schedules are located online by accessing the CIAC website at www.casciac.org. Click on the CIAC icon and navigate the new CIAC site for individual schools and individual sports. Coaches should be having parent/student-athlete meetings to introduce you to their sport and we'll be competing shortly with opening day scheduled for March 30th.
