Fun at Wellness Day
On Wednesday we celebrated our Wellness day for students and staff. As many of you know, mental health in children and teens is one of the most critical issues we face as a community. Every day our students struggle with anxiety, depression, and other mental health challenges that inhibit their success in school, social settings, and at home.
Providing wellness days for students is one effective strategy to address this issue. Students face enormous amounts of pressure — academically and socially. Assignments, homework, assessments, and extracurriculars bring constant pressure into their lives, especially in high school. Current studies show teenagers report higher stress levels than adults during the school year.
Wellness days in schools can give our students much-needed downtime without needing an excused absence. Wellness days help our students create positive relationships with staff and create a sense of belonging for all students.
Special thanks to Ms. Pelissier for arranging this day!
This week we will have a food drive at NBHS. We will be collecting non perishable foods to help families in Worcester county. There will be a food bins in the main office. Students and families are welcome to bring in food items all next week, from 7-3pm.
Special thanks to NBHS student Nathaniel Stonehouse for sponsoring this event!
Don't forget our staff vs student basketball game is this Friday at 6pm. Current Vegas odds now favor our students by 2 points after their All Star game performance! Everyone is invited. Food and drinks available. Come and joins us for this exciting event! Lets pack the "house"!

Work Based Learning and Innovation Career Pathways
On Thursday a group of seniors toured FLEXcon corporation in Spencer, MA. FLEXcon is a global manufacturer of products found everywhere – in consumer goods, automobiles, medical devices and more. Their specialty is coated and laminated films and adhesives. As we learned on our visit, they also provide protective coatings for the space shuttle and heat shields for Apple phones. Special thanks to Ashley Cronk, Flexcon's community engagement partner, for all her help! Our seniors have the opportunity to apply for a work based learning internship, where they will be paid to work during the 4th quarter. The hope is our interns will become full time employees after graduation. Next week our seniors will tour Vibram in North Brookfield.
Career Day
Our next big event is March 28, when we will have career day for all students in grades 7-12. Students will have an opportunity to meet with professionals from over 25 different careers! Another way NBHS is preparing our students for a successful future!
