This time of year is always a great reminder for us to reflect on all the people, things, and experiences that we are grateful for. As I reflect on my year, I am extremely grateful for health and family. This year, my family has extended and I am fortunate enough to add Sward to my family list. Thank you all for your kindness, assistance, and grace with me this school year as I moved into the neighborhood. I can truly say that I love my job because of the people I get to interact with since beginning my role in District 123. Those people are you, your children, and our amazing teachers and staff…my heart is full of gratitude for you all. Many classroom conversations this week at Sward are about being thankful, please take this opportunity to ask your children what they are thankful for and share your thoughts with them as well. We will be off of school for the entirety of next week, I wish you a restful Thanksgiving week full of warmth, love, and delicious food!

A big congratulations is very well deserved to our amazing Sward teachers, students, and families. Last Monday, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) released data used to evaluate all K-12 public schools in Illinois. This year Sward received the highest designation status of “Exemplary”', awarded to Illinois Schools performing in the top 10% of all schools within the state. We are very proud of our achievement at Sward and hope to continue to lead the state in performance!

Please remind your children that their phones and smart watches need to be off and away during school hours.

Our students love their recess time where they are able to run around and enjoy being outside with their peers. Please make sure your child has a coat and is dressed appropriately for the weather to ensure their warmth during recess.

A great way to help promote kindness, service, and generosity is by joining our teachers and students in D123's Meal Packing Event where we will create meals of hope together for hungry children and their families in our community. For more information please click here.
