MARCH 22 UPDATE
SPRING BREAK!
On behalf of the entire staff of CIS, I hope everyone has a great Spring Break including our bonus snow day! If you are traveling near, far, or not at all, we hope that you enjoy your week. We have many things to look forward to after we return to school as the end of the year approaches.
M-STEP
Students at CIS will be taking the M-Step test in April. The testing window runs from April 8 through May 17. Here are the subjects that will be tested and the tentative dates for each test.
5th Grade
Science: April 10,11
ELA: April 17,18,19
Social Studies: April 23,24
Mathematics: April 30, May 2
4th Grade

TEACHER OF THE YEAR
From nearly 100 teachers nominated across the county, our own Mr. Webb was named Teacher of the Year in the elementary category. He also received a visit from Firebirds mascot Hot Wing in his classroom and was invited to take part in a special pre-game ceremony at Education Appreciation Night, also sponsored by Sovita Credit Union and the Michigan Education Association last Saturday. Congratulations to Mr. Webb!
SPELLING BEE AT CIS
The CIS Spelling Bee took place on March 21 with the following results:
4th Grade:
1st place- Camden Wetherell
2nd Place- Liam Hardaway
Alternate/3rd Place- Raegan Wray
5th Grade:
1st Place- Nolan Burger
2nd Place- Allora Luna
Alternate/3rd Place- Daniel Furtado
Our 1st and 2nd place winners will participate in the GISD County Spelling Bee in April.
FEBRUARY STUDENTS OF THE MONTH
Raegan Wray
Everyday Raegan comes to school with the correct attitude ready to be a good friend, a good student and a good community member. Raegan is a leader, plain and simple. There is nothing I have seen that she is not willing to do or able to accomplish. She has drive and the willingness to learn as much as she can with every minute of her day. She is an exceptional artist and I am truly lucky to have her part of my rooms this year. Keep making things better....always!!
Zaine Barnes
Zaine is such a leader and positive role model for his fourth grade friends. He knows how to follow PRIDE and is very responsible about getting his schoolwork done. I can count on him to help out and trust that he will do the right thing even when no one is looking!
Brody Williams
Brody is an incredibly hardworking, compassionate student and person who makes each of my days as a teacher a little easier. He is always willing to help anybody with anything that they need. Everybody needs a Brody!
Cooper Smith
Cooper is a very hard worker, participates when called on, and works well with his classmates. He is respectful to everyone around him and makes great choices. He is a perfect example of PRIDE! I enjoy having him in class this year!
Adalynne Rinks
I am glad to have Adalynne in my class. She always works hard to do her best. She is a good friend to her classmates and is eager to help when needed. She is a great example of Mustang Pride. Keep up the good work, Adalynne!l
Harper Hart
Harper prioritizes her learning by asking questions, giving her personal best on her work, and participating in class. Harper is very responsible and dependable. She is a wonderful role model for the rest of the class.
Mietta Alix
Mietta is an amazing kid. She is a motivated learner and a deep thinker. She is crazy smart and we all love when she shares her knowledge with the rest of us. She also tries her best at everything she does. We are so blessed to have Mietta as a part of our class this year.
Aiden Wilson
Aiden is always ready for class, showing eagerness to participate and engage in lessons. His friendly and outgoing nature makes him a joy to have in class. Aiden also shows a willingness to help others demonstrating his caring and responsible character!
Nolan Burger
Nolan consistently shows up as a reliable, respectful and responsible classmate. He actively participates in discussions while bringing a fresh perspective and valuable insight to the classroom. Nolan's sense of responsibility and hard work are tremendously appreciated. He sets high goals for himself, and he continues to meet and surpass those goals. I can't wait to see where this young man is headed!
Ella Burger
Ella has demonstrated tremendous strength and determination throughout this school year. When facing challenges, Ella handles herself with grace, determination and a level of maturity that continues to inspire those around her. There is nothing that this young lady can't do!
Greysen Thompson
Greysen is a hard worker and regularly participates in class. He is a very nice young man and a good role model.
Aria Hackel
Aria is an excellent member of our classroom community. She works hard on a daily basis. Aria helps others , and is a good friend and role model. She is a true pleasure to have in class this year!
Ashtin Patrick
Ashtin is a wonderful student to have in class. She is very eager to learn and always strives to do her best. Ashtin has made such progress this year and I am so proud of her. She follows the Clio Pride expectations and is an outstanding young lady. I can always count on her to do what is right. She sets a wonderful example for others to follow. Her positive attitude and beautiful smile brighten up my days. I really enjoy being her teacher.
Helaina Arntson
Helaina is an overall wonderful student and person. She is an extremely hard worker and is always willing to lend a hand to others in need. She cares about our school and our classroom and is often the first person to take care of a mess without ever being asked. She is kind to everyone, and makes others feel comfortable. We are so glad that Helaina is in our class.

If your 4th Grade student is interested in joining 5th Grade Band next year, please sign up either using the Google Form or returning the hard copy. All forms are due April 5th!

Our buildings will be open on the following dates and times for the community to see all of the updates and improvements.
ARRIVAL AND DISMISSAL REMINDERS
- Students can not be dropped off before 8:30am
- If you need to make any alternate transportation plans for after school, please contact the CIS office before 2:30pm.
- Students leaving early need to be picked up before 3:15, unless for an emergency
- Please turn right only when leaving the CIS parking lot.
- Please wait in the pickup line, do not park and pick up your student.
