A note from Dr. Holub
The next few weeks approaching break include many activities and changes in the normal routines. Please speak with your student(s) about checking Google classroom so they are prepared. COUNSELING DEPARTMENT - notes from your child School Counselor

What is “CBITS”?
CBITS is a school-based program with group and individual intervention aimed at relieving
symptoms of general anxiety, depression, and Posttraumatic Stress Disorder among children
exposed to trauma. This evidence-based program also has data that supports improved
functioning, grades, attendance and coping skills. CBITS stands for Cognitive-Behavioral
Intervention for Trauma in Schools.
“Who is appropriate for CBITS?”
Exposure to traumatic events among youth is relatively common. Almost all youth experience
initial distress as a reaction to such events, but for most, natural resilience causes the distress to
gradually subside. CBITS is designed for youth that are experiencing distress in the months to
years after trauma exposure. Usually, it’s been at least 3 to 4 months since the traumatic event
occurred and the youth is still experiencing distress.
If you are interested in your child participating in CBITS, please contact the appropriate school counselor.
