Solar Eclipse on April 8th!
On Monday, April 8, we will be near the totality line of a solar eclipse. To ensure our staff and students can view the eclipse as they desire, we will close Little Miami Schools on April 8, 2024. We will return on April 9, 2024, on a regular schedule.
All staff and students will receive an Eclipse Viewer before the eclipse. These will be sent home with students the week of March 25th.

Six LMHS juniors selected for Buckeye Girls State!
Six juniors have been selected to represent Little Miami High School at Buckeye Girls State this summer.
Riley Angel, Isabella Gardner, Langley Lundt, Anya Menad, Elle Thrush and Sabrina Toshpulatova were selected to represent LMHS. This highly competitive process includes a teacher nomination, an application, and an interview.
Buckeye Girls State is designed to educate Ohio's young women in the duties, privileges, rights, and responsibilities of good citizenship. By getting involved in the process, BGS delegates learn about city, county, and state government during a one-week summer program.
Little Miami Work Study
LMHS is now working with Hamilton Township for a work-study program. Students in our Structured Resource Rooms Work Study program got to help the township prepare for the Hop into Spring event.
We had some very amazing guests at the ECC this week!
Cheering for Charlie came to Ms. Naughton's class today—the non-profit works to spread awareness about the importance of early diagnosis and intervention for cerebral palsy. March is Cerebral Palsy Awareness Month.
Charlie's mom, Chelsea, read a book to students and passed out bracelets and information about cerebral palsy. The kids even got a book to take home!
Charlie Wirtz is in Ms. Naughton’s class. He was born at 39 weeks after a seemingly normal pregnancy and delivery and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy in 2021.
Charlie’s mom asked the class if they had questions about Charlie, and a student said, "I love Charlie."
So do we!

RECO Ambassadors Field Trip
RECO Ambassadors from the Middle School went over to teacher the Primary students a lesson on this month's character trait, peace.
2024 Legislative Action Conference
LM Food Services Director Ron McWhorter was among roughly 1,000 attendees in Washington, D.C., advocating for child nutrition programs this week. The three-day event allowed school nutrition professionals and industry partners to meet with the offices of our senators and representatives. Mr. McWhorter met with the offices of Senator JD Vance, Representative Greg Landsman and Representative Warren Davidson.
In those meetings, Mr. McWhorter advocated for:
- Permanently increase federal reimbursement rates for the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program (NSLP/SBP) by 40 cents per lunch and 15 cents per breakfast.
- Ensure USDA maintains the current, successful school nutrition standards, rather than implementing additional rules.
- Expand NSLP/SBP to offer healthy school meals for all students at no charge.

WoodHenge: A Little Miami Podcast
The podcast is called WoodHenge, named after the ancient, fossilized structures buried under Little Miami High School. There are woodhenges worldwide, similar to stonehenges, but it's believed that the woodhenge buried under LM was left during the Hopewell era.
The point of the podcast's name is to show that we are "uncovering" the truth about Little Miami High School, just like woodhenge was uncovered!
This year's guests include Dr. Kevin Harleman, Mrs. Adrienne Sanders, Mr. Rob Mason, Jasmina Abduganieva, Alena Greulich, Mackenzie Evans, Kyle Mangan, Mr. Lovins, Edie Loffer, Mr. Woodruff, senior Sam Schmidt and multi sport athlete and standout student, Gabby Wilson, Bob Genheimer, the George Rieveschl Curator of Archaeology at The Cincinnati Museum Center.
Latest Episode:
For the last episode of the fall semester, Mr. DeSanctis and Miss Frederick are joined by Mr. Wysong, an LMHS science teacher in his first year in the district. They chat about life as an administrator, plans for winter break, and some tasty side hustles!
