Note from the Coordinators
Greetings DHAA families,
As we approach the end of another remarkable school year, opportunities to grow and achieve are abundant! We have included dates for our Field Day and End of Year Awards below. We will send out more information about volunteering and participating at the beginning of May.
We will be continuing ILEARN state testing with ELA next week. Please support your child in doing their best by ensuring they get a good night's sleep and arrive to school on time each day. Encourage them to have a positive mindset about showing what they know!
Thank you to all of the families and community members that attended our High Ability Showcase last night! All participants were excited to show the great things they have learned through their PBL units this semester. Be sure to view the pictures from last night below.
Thank you for your continued support.

Box Tops
We have a winner in the BoxTops competition, and it's none other than our fantastic 3rd grade class! Get ready to celebrate because they're in for a Minute-To-Win-It extravaganza next Friday, April 12th! The excitement doesn't stop there! Families, you can still show your love for DHAA by continuing to support us through BoxTops. Keep the momentum going with the details below!
Camp Jameson
Through the hard work and commitment of our students in demonstrating the values of being a part of the HAWKS community, they have earned a complimentary school-wide field trip. This trip is supported by the PTO, with the primary focus on encouraging teamwork, communication, and cooperation among students in a fun and interactive outdoor setting. Field trip forms were handed out on Monday (4/15), if one has not filled out for your student and you would like them to go, all forms will be due on Tuesday (4/23).
Groups
Each student is given the chance to join lunch and recess groups such as Girls Supporting Girls, Boys Bunch, and a Study Group. The groups for girls and boys are centered around developing social skills and creating a supportive space to tackle school-related issues while engaging in fun activities. The Study Group is dedicated to cultivating effective study techniques and provides dedicated time for homework completion.

Donatable Items:
At the DHAA we LOVE to do projects, build things, and experiment with the world around us. This requires us to have a large amount of consumable items on hand for each project we participate in. Many of these items are common materials found stored around a home, garage, or workplace. As you work, complete spring cleaning, or notice some materials you just need taken off your hands, we hope you would consider making a donation to the DHAA MakerSpace. Please feel free to share this list with your family & friends if you think they could benefit from it as well!
The list below offers just a SAMPLE of items that our students could use for the various projects & problems they work to solve. Some items we are in need of at the present time include:
- Legos
- Scrap wood
- Wood working tools
- PVC pipe
- Plastic Containers
- Props/Decoration/Costumes (used in video productions)
