This fun event funds our heritage celebrations, staff appreciation, provides classroom mini-grants, supports staff continuing education, and more.

The ticketed Live Auction will be held on Saturday, March 23, from 7:00pm to 10:00pm at The Distillery of Modern Art in Chamblee.
We're excited to have you join us! Please share our flyer with your family and friends. If you have any questions, please check out our FAQs.
PTCC Auction Volunteer Needs
1-2 "Vannas": take turns walking around with the Auction art.
A dynamic duo could have a lot of fun with this!
1-2 Bid Spotters: write winning bids during the Live Auction.
2-3 Check-Out Runners: grab Silent Auction winnings from the tables when the event ends.
4-6 Clean-Up Crew: stay after to help gather items and load cars (many hands make light work!).
If you can help out, email: auction@theglobeacademy.net. We would be more than grateful!
Milestones testing will take place in April
Georgia law requires that all students in grades 3–8 take the Georgia Milestones, designed to provide information about how well students are mastering the state adopted content standards. Importantly, Georgia Milestones is designed to provide students with critical information about their own achievement and their readiness for their next level of learning. Parent resources for Milestones can be found here. Look out for further information in the coming weeks.
Schedule as follows:
April 17: ELA Section 1
April 18: ELA Section 2
April 19: ELA Section 3
April 22: Algebra: Concepts and Connections (MS only) / Make-up Day
April 23: Science Sections 1 and 2
April 24: Mathematics Section 1
April 25: Mathematics Section 2
April 26: Social Studies Sections 1 and 2
April 29: Make-up Day/Collection Day
Support our 8th grade Savannah trip
To keep the collection process moving swiftly, exact change and dollar bills (not coins) are preferred. Funds collected go to support the 8th grade trip to Savannah in May. Thank you for your support.
Campus notes
Lower Campus
Carpool reminder
Please respect GLOBE's neighbors in the community by obeying all speed and parking regulations and by not blocking driveways or mailboxes.

There is NO PARKING in the following locations:
• On Heritage Drive, Briarwillow Drive, or Flagpole Roundabout from 2:00pm to 3:10pm

• In front of driveways

Francophonie celebration
Thank you to everyone who attended today's performance. A link to the video will be posted in next week's newsletter.
Olympian visits LC
Last week we were visited by Courtney Hart. A highly decorated swimmer, Hart is a two-time Olympic Gold Medalist, 26-time NCAA All-American, five-time NCAA Champion and 19-time SEC Champion while at Georgia Tech. The students enjoyed listening to her presentation and got to ask questions.
Author Brendan Wenzel to speak to K-1 students on Thursday, April 25
If you’d like to order a copy of Brendan's books They All Saw a Cat, Inside Cat, or Two Together for Brendan to sign for your student or family, please complete this order form.
Author/illustrator duo to speak to 2nd and 3rd grade students
On Wednesday, May 1, we are so excited to kick off the beginning of AANHPI month with a visit to our 2nd and 3rd grade students by the author and illustrator duo Joanna Ho and Amanda Phingbodhipakkiya to discuss their new book, We Who Produce Pearls. If you would like to order a signed copy of the book, please complete this form.
Upper Campus
Francophonie celebration
UC Auditorium, March 22, 1:30pm to 2:30pm (doors open at 1:10pm).
We celebrate Francophonie this Friday with a performance in the Auditorium at 1:30pm. Families of French track students are welcome to attend. Parking will be available at Church in Atlanta.
Mary Scott Nature Park and neighborhood street parking
Please respect GLOBE's neighbors in the community by obeying all speed and parking regulations and by not blocking driveways or mailboxes. Also, do not leave your car unattended. Neighbors are reporting that GLOBE parents are inhibiting buses and emergency vehicles from being able to access the neighborhood streets.
Many parents, against school guidelines, use Mary Scott Nature Park as a turn-around or pick-up location for Upper Campus. The park is not intended for this level of traffic and it is preventing visitors from accessing the park. Cars turning left into the park after exiting the UC carpool line are backing up traffic on Briarcliff Road in both directions. This causes a ripple delay in the carpool line.
Field trip to Zoo Atlanta
7th and 8th grade students took a field trip to Zoo Atlanta on Monday, March 11. We are pleased to include a few images from their day.
UC Connections
Middle School PE
We are playing Pickleball in PE and the students are loving it!
Orchestra / Band / Chorus
Last week, 52 of our 7th and 8th grade orchestra members participated in the Georgia Music Educators' Large Group Performance Evaluation (LGPE) at Chamblee High School. It was the first time we took a Level III selection, along with two Level II selections - a challenge many local MS orchestras aren't quite ready for.
We are so proud of the students and their growth through the process. For many of them, this was their first time participating in LGPE. We received a rating of "Excellent" for the concert portion of the evening (we were so close to getting a "Superior" from two of the judges) and a "Superior" in sight-reading, a feat they should really be proud of as we had to perform a piece we had never seen before for a judge with only 6 minutes to prepare (and rules against playing anything on their instruments prior to the first note of the performance). They did an amazing job and represented GLOBE extremely well.
Good luck to our band and chorus cousins as they take their LGPEs today!
Middle School Language Program
GLOBE language teachers visit Advanced Placement classes
As part of our Language Assurances policy, GLOBE invests heavily in professional development for teachers. Teachers have access to collaborative planning with their team on a weekly basis, planning with coaches each week, and PTCC mini grants for professional learning.
In addition, GLOBE language teachers have had the opportunity to share with other schools. From January to March, middle school language teachers visited Advanced Placement (AP) classes at Lakeside, Marist, and Westminster school. Advanced Placement classes are similar to the first two years of college coursework, and students are able to receive college credit for qualifying scores on their AP exams.
GLOBE classes Levels 1–4 are aligned to the AP Themes, as the majority of our students take the AP Exam at some point, either in 8th grade at GLOBE, or 9th or 10th grade at the high school level. For more information on our GLOBE middle school language curriculum, please visit our website - GLOBE Middle School Language.
We are incredibly thankful to Lakeside, Marist, and Westminster for partnering with us and openly sharing their language classes. We look forward to our Spanish and French Level IV students taking the AP Exams at Marist in May.

PTCC Spring Auction Planning, Join Us!
The PTCC Auction will take place this Saturday, March 23, at the Distillery of Modern Art. Join us for our Spring Fundraising Event planning meeting this Thursday, March 21, at 8pm via Zoom. Meeting ID: 753 614 0314. Last year’s auction raised over $90,000 for GLOBE events, multiple initiatives and faculty support. We can’t do it without help from volunteers, so please join us!
Staff Appreciation Week at UC
UC Parents, we need your help! We want to show our wonderful GLOBE staff how much they mean to us during Staff Appreciation Week (May 6–10). If you’re interested in volunteering for this event, please email classpac.globeacademy@gmail.com.

"Volunteer of the Month" Carpool Winners
Our volunteers of the month are Katrina Hefner and Nelly Ortiz. We hope you enjoy using the “Volunteer of the Month” carpool flag to skip the line this month of March.
Be sure to log your volunteer hours for a chance to win!
Lost and Found: Please label your items
Parent volunteers return labeled items to the owner's classroom. If your items are not labeled, they may never make it back home. Please take a moment to find a labeling solution that will work for you. Here are some ideas to get you started: Avery No-Iron Kids Clothing Labels, Sharpie Fabric Marker, and Mabel's Labels (customizable labels and stamps, dishwasher and laundry safe. Enter "The GLOBE Academy" in the "support a fundraiser" field, and they'll donate 20% back to GLOBE!).
Volunteer hours can help GLOBE receive grants
Did you know that when you volunteer, it can help GLOBE receive grants? Some donors want to know how involved the community is. We can show them that parents are invested in the school by sharing the volunteer hours we have tracked. So please remember to log your hours here. When you log your time, you'll also be entered in our drawing for a volunteer-of-the-month carpool flag. As a reminder, each family is requested to volunteer ten hours each year. To see current volunteer opportunities, click here. Thank you for volunteering at GLOBE.
Shopping can help GLOBE!
Did you know when you shop at places like Publix, Kroger, and OfficeMax/Office Depot, they will donate to GLOBE PTCC? To find out how to easily set this up, click here. Every penny counts!
