Message from the Superintendent
Dear RSU 57 Community,
I hope this message finds you well and in good spirits, especially after the recent challenging weather conditions that impacted our area. It's been a tough few days with the ice and snow, and I hope that power has been restored to all our families. I want to extend a heartfelt thank you to our facilities, custodial, and maintenance departments. Their tireless efforts over the weekend ensured that our schools were safe and ready to welcome our students and staff back on Monday morning. Their dedication is a testament to their commitment to our students' education and well-being.
In more uplifting news, I'm thrilled to share that the spring sports season at Massabesic High School is off to a fantastic start, with participation numbers 22% higher than in the spring of 2023. This increase in student engagement in extracurricular activities is not only exciting but also aligns with Focus Area 1 of our Strategic Plan: “Achieving and Engaged Students”. Additionally, it reflects our collective commitment to fostering a holistic educational environment where students can pursue their passions and talents beyond the classroom.
As we have less than 50 school days left in the 2023-24 school year, it's important for our families and students to stay engaged and make the most of the remaining time, whether it's by keeping up with academic responsibilities, participating in school activities, or preparing for end-of-year events and transitions. We have many exciting events slated for the months of May and June so please utilize your child’s school calendar, as well as the district events calendar, to keep up to date on all the happenings.
Looking ahead, I want to remind everyone of the district budget meeting scheduled for May 7th at 7pm at Massabesic Middle School. This meeting is crucial for our community, as we'll seek support for the School Board proposed budget for the 2024-25 school year. Our goal has always been to strike a thoughtful balance between advancing our district's educational mission and being mindful of our responsibilities to our taxpayers. Your presence, insights, and support at this meeting will be invaluable as we work together to continue to move our district forward in alignment with our Strategic Plan.
Thank you for your ongoing support and cooperation. I wish you all a great week ahead.
Warm regards,
Dr. Stephen D. Marquis
