Exploring the 4 Day School Week
March 1, 2024
Edition #2
Proposed 2024-25 Cayuse Prairie 4 Day Schedule
After much discussion and thought 75% of Cayuse teachers would choose the proposed 4 day week schedule below. These options were linked in edition #1. Some of the reasons for this choice were to keep a true 4 day week, & extending the day would allow for longer block periods for math and reading to more easily streamline interventions for struggling students. The time is the same as Fair-Mont-Egan school and very similar to Olny-Bissel.
Montana requires aggregate hours for K-12th grade. Grades K-3rd need 720 aggregate hours and 4th and above need 1080 hours to comply with accreditation standards. "Minimum aggregate hours" means the minimum hours of pupil instruction that must be conducted during the school fiscal year. The term does not include passing time between classes for middle & high school,
lunch time, and periods of unstructured recess.
