CMAB has organized the 3rd Study Visit and Evaluation Workshop in Padula and Naples, Italy, 07-08 November 2023. The Partnership conducted three study visits a) at the UNESCO listed Carthusian Monastery, b) at the EUROPEANA awarded J.P. Museum in Padula and c) at the National Museum in Naples.

Soon to be played by Leonardo di Caprio, the legendary Joe Petrosino who made it from immigrant to the New York Police Department, spent all his life investigating and combatting the organized crime. Crime fighting techniques that Petrosino pioneered are still practiced by law enforcement agencies today. Talty's Black Hand narrates the epic war between a brilliant detective and the deadliest secret society in American history. The unique in Europe anti-Mafia Joe Petrosino Museum has been awarded in 2017 by EUROPEANA as best practice for audience communication.

The House -Museum Joe Petrosino (J.P.) is the only museum dedicated to the unrivalled pioneer in the fight against organized crime. Located in the native house of Petrosino in Padula, the J.P. exploits highly advanced multimedia formats and cultural communication concepts to produce in an artistic language the anti-mafia struggle led by Petrosino. The J.P. Museum is not a dusty place with silent objects, it's digital,- just like the Mafia is not anymore a shepherd who steals a sheep, it's digital as well. So, digital must be the fight against the Mafia. In a sophisticated interactive space J.P. introduces the audience to legality, the basic tenets of the civilized world.

The J.P. Museum includes further the digitized RAI archive to preserve the memory of the anti-mafia heroes and boost scientific research. It is a place, where students and researchers find answers, teachers can prepare lessons and schools can debate on the social topics, with legality at the forefront. J.P. is a storytelling museum that aims to train its visitors to grasp the current and past realities of the many mafias and embrace the struggle of the anti-mafias. Its global aim is to train its visitors perceive and practice legality and raise their ability for semiotic codes and critical reflection in the critical topic of good citizenship.

Located in the Cilento National Park it is one of Italy’s oldest and largest Carthusian monastery. The cloister is the largest in the world, covering 12,000 m2. Founded in 1306, the charterhouse is dedicated to St. Lawrence, who died during the persecution of Christians in 258. In 1535 Emperor Charles V stopped at the charterhouse with his army while returning from his conquest of Tunis. A giant omelet made from 1,000 eggs was prepared for him.

The Farnese Hercules is one of the most photographed artworks. His creator, Glycon, has lots to tell us, but do we hold the interpretive keys in our hands? Taking a closer look, a secret is visible: In the hand behind his back he holds the Golden Apples of the Hesperides. But who was Glycon? What is the story of the statue? How did it come to Naples? Who are the Farnese? Many questions who need a compelling narrative to create indelible memories and quality experiences for the audiences at sites, museums and collections.

The Secret Cabinet in Naples is the collection of 1st-century Roman erotic art from Pompei and Herculaneum. It is exhibited in separate galleries at the National Archaeological Museum in Naples, the former Museo Borbonico. "What you see, is what you get" would some say. But is it so? How to present the collection to different audiences with different cultural backgrounds without sliding to become politically incorrect? Or do we not care about it? This and many other aspects are at the Pact4Skills approach.
