April 8 - Solar Eclipse Day
As a reminder, April 8, the Solar Eclipse Day will be an ELearning Day. The campus will be closed on April 8th, and there are no scheduled activities to take place on campus. We are encouraging all students to remain at home and complete their ELearning Activities as assigned by teachers. Since this is a scheduled ELearning Day, teachers will give students information regarding their assigned activities on Friday, April 5th. This allows students who do not have internet access the ability to complete activities in order to be prepared for class on Tuesday, April 9th.
DePauw University graciously donated a pair of Eclipse Glasses to every NPHS student. These glasses should only be used under the supervision of an adult, and only by following the safety guidelines sent home earlier this week. To learn more about NASA's safe viewing recommendations, visit their website.
As a word of warning, local safety officials are concerned about the potential influx of individuals into the area on April 8th. They are encouraging everyone to remain at home as to not add to what they believe will be busy highways. They are concerned about the public safety response in the event of a massive influx of individuals.
I.C.C. - What is it?
You have probably heard us talk about the Indiana College Core, or heard this in the news. The Indiana College Core (ICC) is a block of 30 credit hours of college-level coursework in six competency areas. Awarded as a certificate, the ICC is guaranteed to transfer between all Indiana public colleges and universities. In Putnam County, North Putnam High School and South Putnam High School are the only two schools that currently offer this program.
Completion of these courses is done primarily at the junior and senior level; however, students have the opportunity to take a course as a sophomore. North Putnam has partnered with Ivy Tech Community College to assist students with tracking and completing this degree program. As a benefit to this relationship, students at North Putnam have the opportunity to take a summer class at Ivy Tech for free this summer if it supports their completion of the ICC.
In future articles we will dive into the different competency areas and highlight the courses that students can take to fulfill these requirements. For more information, please contact our Student Services Department.

Prom tickets are currently on sale before and after school as well as during Engage. Tickets can be purchased from Miss Baire during these times. Summer School 2024
Registration is now open for Summer School 2024 through Indiana Online. Indiana Online is our provider for core curriculum courses for students to take during the summer. Classes through Indiana Online are usually used as credit recovery or to keep a student on track to graduate with their peers. Students can enroll on the Indiana Online website. North Putnam will cover the cost of only a select number of courses that must be approved by the Student Services Department. If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Weaver, or Mr. Spencer for assistance.

North Putnam TV
Did you know that North Putnam High School has a TV Crew that works to put together fun projects and videos? North Putnam TV was developed several years ago as a way to showcase North Putnam Athletics and has grown into an opportunity for students to learn about TV broadcasting, segment development, story telling, and so much more. Check out this year's staff, and follow the NPTV YouTube channel to see some of their other projects. This is also a great way to keep up on athletic activities that are broadcasted.
We would like to thank Mr. Brooks for leading this program, his students, as well as additional community member streamers who help support the effort to showcase our student athletes.
North Putnam's Travel Program
North Putnam is thrilled to launch our new travel opportunities for students and families! When NP first began traveling we felt that this addition to our educational offerings provided students with the following:
Cultural Immersion: Traveling exposes students to diverse cultures, fostering empathy and understanding.
Experiential Learning: Hands-on experiences deepen understanding and complement classroom learning.
Personal Growth: Travel pushes students out of their comfort zones, fostering confidence and resilience.
Global Citizenship: Students develop essential skills for success in a global society.
Lifelong Memories: Travel creates unforgettable experiences and friendships.
Join us on this journey of discovery and growth! To learn more about our travel opportunities, you can visit our NP Travels website, or follow our NP Travels Facebook page.
