Bear Creek Families,

Our Solar Eclipse viewing is a memory I will keep forever. It was lovely to see so many of you joining us as families to observe this moment in history. Several staff members that have been a part of Bear Creek for years mentioned that we saw and used parts of our property for the first time. Who knew we had a back lawn?!

SNAKES - we are actively monitoring the large playground for snakes. However, student education is also very important. On morning announcements today, I reminded students to stay out of the wooded areas on the large playground. The ground cover creates opportunities for snakes to camouflage. Wearing closed toed shoes (i.e. sneakers/tennis shoes) is always ideal in a school setting. Students were also instructed that if they see a snake to move away and alert an adult on duty.

The Austin ISD School Health Advisory Counsel is meeting April 17, 2024 at ASID Head Quarters all are invited to attend. Here is the AGENDA.

Enrollment for the 2024-2025 school year is open. We always seek to place all learners in their best classroom environment. Teachers, Specialized Support Staff, and Administration work together to create student groupings in May. Please use this FORM to share with us your insight about your child(ren).

Bear Creek is a CLOSED CAMPUS Tuesday through Friday of this upcoming week due to STAAR Testing.

Tuesday, April 16th 3rd - 5th grade STAAR RLA
Wednesday, April 17th STAAR Make-up Day
Thursday, April 18th 5th STAAR Science
Friday, April 19th STAAR Make-up Day

Parents and Volunteers are not able to leave the secured office area on designated State testing days.

Panorama Survey

The CAC meeting this past week gave insight to how time consuming this survey might be. The discussion indicates that the family survey may take around 30 minutes to complete. I know that this is a considerable amount of time in your busy schedules. However, when a campus is able to capture a large survey group, it allows for us to have valuable information for future planning.

The next CAC Meeting will be held, Monday, May 6th at 3:30 pm in the Bear Creek Library.

If you are unable to attend the meeting in person, you may observe the meeting via Zoom. Zoom participants will be able to provide comment during Citizen Communication. If you speak during Citizen Communication, please use this FORM.

PTA

Join the PTA on Thursday, April 25 at 5:30 p.m. for a brief General Membership Meeting where we will be electing a new slate of officers, presenting the proposed budget for 2024-25 and presenting updates to the standing rules. The meeting will be followed by Family Art Night! Ms. O'Connell and Ms. Graham will lead us in an interactive family art activity. Pre-registration is required in order to plan for supplies.
