The Prowler
Week of April 1, 2024
From Mr. Moreno's Desk:
Teachers, Staff, Parents, and Students,
RHMS Administration hope everyone enjoyed their four-day weekend! We are now entering the home stretch! Lots of tutorials and heavy duty preparation for the upcoming STAAR tests. As noted last week, progress reports will be sent out on Wednesday, April 3, 2024. We kindly ask parents to review the report, sign and return to their child's second period teachers. Lots of great stuff continues to happen at RHMS! As you will see below our RHMS Symphonic and Honors Band did phenomenally well at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest. Kudos to all involved! This week we also celebrate our paraprofessionals in recognition of Paraprofessional Appreciation Day. These individuals have heart for every single child they serve and do an amazing job providing them with academic support. In addition we recognize Mrs. Sheila Vela, Library Aide, in honor of National School Librarian Day! Mrs. Vela maintains our RHMS Library in tip top shape in addition to working with our emergent bilingual students. RHMS administration, teachers and staff thank them all for all they do for our students.

RHMS Bobcat Band
Congratulations to both the RHMS Symphonic and Concert Bands for their phenomenal performances at the UIL Concert and Sight Reading Contest held on Thursday, March 27, 2024. Both bands received a Division 1 rating from all six judges. Both bands also received Sweepstakes. Our band students have worked really hard this year coming to practices in the morning, lunch, and after school. Also responsible for our band's accolades is our dedicated director, Diana Pena. Special thanks and shout out goes to Mr. Marc Montelongo, Mr. Boris Libson, and Mr. Juan Cantu for working with our students day in and day out!

Mr. Lazo's 7th-grade Science students explore the body systems and identify the organs of each system by dissecting frogs. They identified male and female frogs by recognizing their reproductive organs.

Science Textbook Adoption Presentations
RHISD hosted Science textbook adoption presentations on Saturday, March 23, 2024. Science teachers from both the elementary and middle school attended these presentations and were able to evaluate the quality and the materials provided by each publishing company. All publishing companies had pros and cons. Stay tuned to learn more about their selection.
