The Riverwalk Roar

Last night, the Board recognized our 2024 Teachers of the Year: Ms. Johnston (elem), Ms. Benderson (middle), and Mr. Dawson (high).

On Tuesday, April 16 2024, at a regularly scheduled board meeting (agenda), the Riverwalk Academy board discussed the Head of School's evaluation and the charter contract that the school has with its authorizer. The Board took action on the following items:

Gun-Free School Policy

The board passed a Gun Free School Policy that's required by the SC Department of Education.

Local Board-Approved Courses

In order for us to better match course titles with the courses we're teaching, the Board approved a list of six additional courses that we'll be able to add to report cards/transcripts next year. Some of these courses we're presently teaching, but the name we're allowed to use for the title isn't an accurate representation of the actual course.

This week's picture of the week is of middle school students, Bryson Drawdy, Cameron Squibbs, Kemper Dorsey, Blake Willis and Collin Boozier before Saturday's Riverwalk Academy 5K and 1 mile fun run.

This year (since it's an even year), three elected board seats are up for grabs, along with two appointed ones. That means a total of 5 seats will be filled.
